Ghost hunter stabbed at paranormal investigation in Villisca Ax Murder House

A ghost hunter was stabbed during a paranormal investigation in southeast Iowa earlier this morning. Sheriff deputies were called to the infamous Villisca Ax Murder House after midnight to investigate, KMA Land reported today.

A paranormal investigator participating in an overnight ghost hunt in Villisca, Iowa at the Villisca Ax Murder House last night was stabbed earlier this morning. Steven Laursen, Jr. of Rhinelander, Wisconsin reportedly stabbed himself just after midnight.

Montgomery County Sheriff deputies and the Red Oak Police Department arrived on scene around 12:45 a.m and found Laursen with self-inflicted stab wounds. Laursen’s injuries were so serious that he was rushed to the hospital and arrived at the Clarinda Regional Health Center to be transported by helicopter to the Creighton Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

The Villisca Ax Murder House is the former home of Josiah B. and Sara Moore. The couple, their four kids, and two houseguests were murdered in their sleep by an ax-wielding maniac in June 1912. The case remains unsolved to this day.

“I have these people all the time visiting the home. They all hope something will come to them. Sometimes they like to tempt fate. It’s kind of shocking to wake up and hear that someone has nearly died at your tourist attraction. I’m absolutely sick about this. I’m practically in tears. I can’t imagine why somebody would do something like this to himself,” the historical home’s owner, Martha Linn said in an interview.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Laursen’s condition is unknown at this time. Investigators determined that there was no foul play involved so no criminal charges will be filed. Fortunately no one else was injured in the incident.

Next time when Laursen goes on a ghost hunt, he’ll have to get some knives in the toy aisle at the Dollar Tree. The glow-in-the-dark plastic blades are perfect for spirit provocation and when he knifes himself, the blade will penetrate into the handle instead of him.v
