POLITICAL DIRECTNESS: BALLOTS, BULLETS AND THE PERMISSION TO SPEAK FREELY

POLITICAL DIRECTNESS
BALLOTS, BULLETS AND THE PERMISSION TO SPEAK FREELY

Today is Election Day and while I have been soured on partisan politics I am not going to tell people not to vote. I know this may come as a surprise to most because I do not believe in party identification and I do not believe that the gangsters that the left and right nominate have our best interests at heart.

The way the system has deteriorated over time gives me a reason to be politically direct and speak of how we have established as a nation a default system in order to eliminate what we once called “normal American freedoms.” Today the system has determined that your ability to be a normal American is based wholly on your place in the power structure.

We have created a statist system where we rank people from those who are superior to us to those whom we view as subhuman or worthless. The idea of survival of the fittest is eliminated through our appointed and voted upon authoritarian system. We have allowed ourselves to pretty much believe that we have appointed through the ballot box someone who is more superior than we are to dole out resources, suspend human rights, and hire an army to create a police state capable of eliminating those that they tell us are subhuman and worthless.

This whole exercise is becoming an immoral excuse for destroying your own dignity and your ability to sustain life, guarantee liberty and the pursuit of monetary increase in order to provide happiness and safety for those you love and associate with.

Now the tide has turned and no election or vote is going to get you off easy.

Election Day has always reminded me of how Americans can be beaten, ridiculed and traumatized by their government and then all of a sudden one day in November arrives and then we begin to see a patriotic orgy of people who are willing to forget everything and believe that they can change things with their vote.

In America today there is no shortage of heroes. That is because for some reason we think anyone who has a political agenda we agree with is a hero. Anyone else is just an opportunist, whose fringe ideas don’t resonate with our bitterness, anger and hatred for the sub humans we have been programmed to hate.

However the heroes know what to do with the menace. They know what to do with the phantoms and the programmed dragons that need slaying. It is all an illusion, but for one day Americans say “who cares” and do what they feel is all they can and that is vote.

In the era of Fox News and MSNBC politics are a fashion statement and have very little substance as policies and ideas become watered down talking points that Americans who wish to be entertained more than informed can identify with. It becomes a personal affirmation of who they are and later becomes akin to being part of a winning football team.

I have seen it many times in forums and blogs online where someone throws a political comment into some topic that that isn’t political. It is their way of thinking that they are cool, that they are on a winning team, republican, democrat, libertarian, and anarchist.

It is obvious that it all seems to border on being narcissist. It is one of the many aggravating things about politics today.

If it is easier to use a sports analogy to paint the picture of what is happening then maybe I could give it a try.

When I was in high school we had a football team that could not win a game. Many times we would go to prep rallies and praise the jocks as heroes. One day I realized it was a joke. The heroes did not deserve my cheers or my support and so I stopped attending games. I also avoided any of the fundraisers, where cheerleaders and the pretty people is school politics would beg for my donations. Secretly the money went to a new scoreboard and jackets for the “heroes” that never made a touchdown, never brought us a win.

However the football players were always the bullies in school. They would always get into trouble. They would somehow get into trouble and then ended up being miraculously saved at the last minute and yet I was supposed to cheer and support them.

They say that everything in your adult life can be cross referenced with your experiences in high school. Perhaps, maybe we never outgrow the programming and we carry it through to adulthood.

Now, I can determine who in my life has zero credibility and when they prove to me they do nothing the better my life and put obstacles in my way I can make a choice to not give them artificial praise or encouragement to continue doing the same.

However in the two party systems all of that gets muddied and for some reason politicians with zero credibility get praise because of their party affiliation instead of what they have done to improve the country.

It never fails that people with philosophies that lean to the right of the American political system reflexively believe that Barack Obama is the worst President in history; left-leaning people reflexively say the same about of George W. Bush.

In my perfect world America would wake up and realize that both of them sucked, both of them have zero credibility, and all of the others who claim to be their successors are going to suck too. In America we all pretend that our leadership and the parties are fiercely competitive.

They pretend to fiercely compete on the surface but really collude under the table. Of course if you say this people think you are a conspiracy theorist or fringe thinker. However the reason people say this is because facts are hard for Americans to grasp because of all of the harsh and ad hominem rhetoric of the parties.

We also have cheerleaders in the form of network news where the environment feeds on the controversy of a political gaffe or a political position that really means nothing in the big scheme of things.

Bush and Obama are the centerpieces for the same old tired arguments of one being better than the other — and party superiority can be pounded in like a cudgel when you have rich mouthy talk hosts who want to be politicians but realize they have far more power being pompous clowns in the political circus.

Evidence time and time again proves that that the collusion between the parties exists and that the liberal Obama and the conservative Bush have basically the same doctrines and policies.

They both started and escalated needless wars, restricted civil liberties in the fight against terrorism, and increased the federal government’s role domestically. They have increased the federal controls of education, bailed out selected industries, and suck up to special interests.

Of course we have had worse presidents, worse wars and worse calamities and worse times – however in America now we are reminded of who was worse and who was better because of the 24 hour news cycle and the political push for remembering faults and failures of one or the other—another way we can prove that there is no difference in the parties because both have produced psychopaths that have literally transformed our form of government in to an Oligarchy. Some see it is borderline despotic.

It used to be that voting mattered now it seems to be an exercise in continuing in the cycle of failure and oppression.

The US government does not represent the interests of the majority of the country’s citizens, but is instead ruled by those of the rich and powerful.

US government policies rarely align with the preferences of the majority of Americans, but do favor special interests and lobbying organizations: When a majority of citizens disagrees with economic elites and/or with organized interests, they generally lose. Moreover, because of the strong status quo bias built into the US political system, even when fairly large majorities of Americans favor policy change, they generally do not get it.

When you vote you are giving consent for a small group of people to rule over you and the sad thing is that it is done so casually and it is encouraged because of political peer pressure and tons of campaigning.

The foundation for any argument against despotism or fascism is idea that all government ultimately depends on the consent of the governed. That does not apply today, we have somehow surrendered our decisions in matters of policy and have left it up to those we call our authorities.

Your vote has now become the insurance policy for these appointed oligarchs to legitimize their control over you.

The authoritarian state has become the secular religion. Voting is its sacrament. Belief that government will do for you what is necessary to sustain you is all faith based. It is indoctrinated belief that has somehow lost its flavor.

Election Day is like Christmas Day, because it always seems to make everything better. It is the magic that some people believe encourages faith in the state. We have created an apotheosis when it comes to the state, government is the supreme deity and we even seal the deal in a sick way by creating an immoral and corrupt government that claims that god is in our trust.

You see government has rights that you don’t. Those who officiate in places of the power structure tell you what rights you have and they take them away. If you decide to fight back or protest the god that is government, the officials can call upon armies and police officers to come in and remove you.

You see government like god has no restrictions, you as a mere mortal do. It issues commands and if you don’t follow those commands you are a sinner and will eventually be punished for not obeying. The true believers blindly follow, and many do not realize that the true god of government is not the god they once thought it was.

You see in the perfect America the system worked well for Americans because we did not hoist the government into godhood, The mistake now is that we have somehow lost our ability to know the difference between those who wish to rule by consent and those who wish to rule with an iron fist.

The sad thing is your government by consent is only your vote. It winds up thrown away and forgotten because even after all of your best intentions, there are people who will come to you eventually, and they will say “See me? I am with the government, I may look like you, you may think I am here to help you, you may even think that I appreciated your vote, but here is the truth I am allowed to demand your money, seize your property at gun point, ask that you give up your guns, your freedom of speech, even your freedom to choose who you love and have sex with. I can force you to be vaccinated, boss you around, and yes I will hurt you if you disobey me.”

We have all heard about Hope and change, we have all heard about all of the beautiful things that America is supposed to stand for. Somehow we all seem to believe that the vote will save us from the inevitability of reality.

Well if you still have faith don’t let my cynicism get in the way—I just know that there was a time when Americans did have power and had the ability to shut down anything that threatened our way of life. If it wasn’t by ballots it was with bullets and now both can’t compete with MRAPS, bombs and the police state.

We can’t gather to form a coalition to fight back without being monitored or told that we are being un-American. We can’t even say that we are fighting for the need to go back to simple constitutional ideals, without being told that the constitution is a death sentence and that anyone who is a follower of the constitution is an extremist.

Government officials think that they have a right to ignore us, because we made the decision that they could do whatever they want because of our vote. I ask is this what is meant by consent of the governed?

Government officials do what they do even if you didn’t vote for them that is the biggest joke of all. They issue threats that they call laws, they take your money, called taxes and if you disobey they will call out men that can kick in your door and kill you.

That wasn’t the America that I learned about in history class, or the America that inspired me to be an Eagle Scout and inspired me to pledge allegiance to the flag.

But that’s America now.

So, if you must go out and vote, but don’t say that I didn’t warn you.
