'Hi Daddy, I love you' - Engineer 'talks' to his dead teenage daughter after developing paranormal detection devices

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

A grief-stricken electrical engineer believes he has found a way to communicate with his dead daughter eight years after her death.

Using his expertise to design and build a series of electromagnetic detection devices, Gary Galka claims to have even recorded his eldest daughter Melissa saying, ‘Hi Daddy, I love you.’

Devastated by his girl’s death in a car accident on her way home in 2004 at the age of 17, Gary and his family claim they started to experience unexplained phenomena at their Connecticut home days after the fatal accident.

Melissa Galka died in 2004 following a car crash and her family believe that she has been a constant spirit presence in their lives ever since

‘She started doing things like ringing the doorbell, changing TV channels, turning lights on and off,’ said Gary who runs D.A.S. Distribution Inc. in East Granby and lives with his wife Cindy and two other daughters, Jennifer and Heather.

‘There were situations when my wife would start to make lunch with Heather and Jennifer and all of sudden they’d feel someone come into the room,’ Gary told his local Patch.

‘I’ve been lying in bed and felt someone come down on my side of the bed and felt a weight on my chest, like someone’s head.

Gary Galka has used his expert knowledge to create a series of electromagnetic devices that he says allow him to communicate with his daughter

‘It evolved into things like feeling a tap on the shoulder, someone calling out our names and it felt like someone was kissing our foreheads.’

Convinced these were after-death communications (ADC’s), Gary set about creating specific devices so that he could talk with his eldest girl.

Using his knowledge of electromagnetic sensors systems, Gary created the Mel-Meter 8704, named after his daughter, the year she was born and the year that Gary believes she passed into the spirit realm.

Mellisa Galka died in September 2004 aged 17 after crashing her car into a tree on her way home from a party

Developing additional devices, such as a ‘Spirit Box’ , Gary has recorded his daughter saying, ‘Hi Daddy, I love You.’

The Galka family insist that these experiences are real and that the instruments that electrical genius Gary has created prove it. The entire family say that they have come into contact with Melissa, even seeing her appear inside their home.

‘I’ve never seen Melissa,’ said Gary. ‘But my younger daughter Heather has seen her three times.’

Indeed, Gary’s ghost detection equipment has found a niche market and the devices which are priced between $79 and $350 have become successful.

Gary Galka set about designing and creating the Mel-Meters which are named after his daughter Melissa who tragically died in 2004 and are available at Pro-measure.com

‘Nobody catered to these people before,’ said Gary of weekend ghost hobbyists and even television shows such as Ghost Adevntures on the Travel Channel and Ghost Hunters on Syfy. ‘We have all different Mel Meters to do research.’ ‘I’ve created over 30 different products for paranomal research. No one was making products for these people.’

Adamant that he and his family are communicating with Melissa, the whole experience has been cathartic for the Galka’s.

‘It has brought us so much comfort, love ones want to let you know that you are safe and that you are OK,’ said Gary. ‘That’s really important to them. Through ADC’s you begin to heal. We began to heal.’ All Melissa cared about was to help her parents in time to learn to live life again. ’If you can’t do that, you’re going to be in a deep, dark place for the rest of your life.’

To test his theories, representatives form the Travel Channel’s ‘Ghost Adventures’ used the equipment that Gary had designed as well as high tech thermal imagery to see if Melissa would communicate with the Galka’s

Cindy Galka and her daughters Jennifer and Heather have felt a presence in their home and even held hands with a spirit they believe to be the ghost of Melissa

Compelled by his tragic experience, Gary wants his products to be used to help other families going through the grieving process.

‘I held her hand and told her to hold on. And that everything would be OK,’ explained Gary about how he arrived on the scene of his daughters accident before she went into a coma and later died in hospital.

‘I had my hand on her heart and I felt it stop.’

Still raw: Eight-years after his daughters death Gary Galka can barely bring himself to be back at the scene of the accident where his daughter was fatally injured

Raised a Catholic, Gary admits he believes in the afterlife and donates one-third of the profits from the sale of his paranormal detectors to bereavement groups.

Addressing anyone who is skeptical about his families experiences, Gary hopes that everyone can keep an open mind.

‘I feel compelled to help other bereaved parents, to show these parents that they can live beyond the grief and the be comforted knowing their child is in a good place, to show them they can have hope.’

my sister died before christmas in 2013 and i had some strange experiences then and since. nothing scary. i was taking a bath and heard 7 distinct knocks from the basement. i was home alone and i know the sounds in my old house so i got up and went downstairs to find that my basement was on the verge of flooding. my pump float was stuck and sump not working. i’ve also had “knowings” for lack of a better word. i always lock my door when leaving by turning the lock on the handle, but one day i was leaving and the car was warming up with my house keys on that ring, for some reason i went to the car, turned it off, came back to lock the door from the outside with the key only to fing the lock frozen solid. if i’d locked the house from the inside i never would have gotten back in with a hassle. these are just a couple weird things. :)
      great story, thanks.

Evil spirits masquerading as loved ones, that passed on. They are there to place doubt about the afterlife.

“to place doubt about the afterlife.”

        Possibly.

But, does the Christian Bible give no examples of a prophet, who saw, communicated with, and relayed messages from dead people?

The rich and poor man, separated by the gulf are typically assumed to be a parable.

Slain Abel’s blood called out to God, from the ground. John, the revelator, saw dead saints calling out for justice, beneath the mercy seat, and apparently spake with elders. And, Jesus commanded a stinking Lazarus to rise again.

Must these feats always be negative, or is there some exception to the rule against necromancers, as they are called.

        • chefjim

The rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31) is NOT a parable because parables never divulge the names. These were given names so that we would know from the text that they were real.

Also there is the story of Saul calling up Samuel from the dead by a medium (1 Samuel 28) and when the woman medium actually saw Samuel, she screamed because this was the first REAL apparition she has likely ever seen.

Any kind of this activity is forbidden by God even unto this day. It is because it opens a gateway to the next dimension and invites devils to deceive people such as the man who thinks he is communicating with his daughter in the story above.

        • deceit me not

Exactly as chefjim wrote, the dark side knows some tricks. They too can “recall special or private moments” that would make one think it was evidence of their loved one.

chefjim said, “The rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31) is NOT a parable because parables never divulge the names.”

Assuming that Jesus is NOT telling a parable, in Luke 16, he is seeing dead people and relaying what they say.

So, you have failed to answer the bigger question (probably, before downrating me.)

Why is it wrong for you to do it.

Aren’t you told that you may be entertaining angels and to test the spirits. Why would you bother to do that, if it can only be wrong, 100% of the time.

Have faith, come the Day of resurrection these spirits will be made whole and will be able to live again.

      • mek

“Have faith, come the Day of resurrection these spirits will be made whole and will be able to live again.”

Well , unless they have Christ these spirits will live, but in eternity of the damned. That’s pretty worrying to die without being saved in Christ. There’s eternity, but make it sure it will be glorious one.

    • Geeper

      Sad what grief can do.

Get back to us the first time one of these gadgets helps somebody find out some deeper knowledge from beyond the veil than “dead child still loves father”.

Taking you at your word, that you have uncovered EVP, can it speak with live people, and how do you know who or what is speaking.

An intelligent force, pretending to be a loved one, is possibly one of the most manipulative and humiliating things I could imagine.

    • RationalSkeptic

Travel Channel must have run out of travel programs to air, since they are broadcasting this kind of stuff and “mystery programs” all the time.

    • Amminadab

      DEMONS.

There are no ghosts. When you are dead you are dead. Man does not have an immortal soul.

Sad that people believe the lies of the devil.

      • tsimitpo

        Got any evidence?

      • StraightDopes

        craig:

        “There are no ghosts.”

that’s an assertion that i’m not so sure you can prove from the Bible (and i am assuming you consider the Bible to be authoritative, from the wording of your post)

“Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”
        -Luke 24:39 NIV

taken at face value it would appear that Jesus is here affirming the existence of ghosts. He *could* have been merely defining the concept of a “ghost” according to popular belief and contrasting the attributes of a ghost with His own Body, which was very much coporeal – but the text itself doesn’t demand such an explanation.

as for the assertion that “Man does not have an immortal soul,” i (and many others, i am sure) would strongly disagree with that statement. and for each of your two or three “prooftexts” (which are really just saying that the dead know nothing of the living), we could answer with 30 more that say otherwise, and are unequivocal in their affirmation that the soul does indeed live on after physical death.

It was probably demons because that is what they do. They probably want to convince that man to kill himself to be closer to his daughter.

Nice scam this guy has created to shift aload of useless machines to aload of idiots

I do not believe in a heaven nor a hell , I do not believe in any religion , no gods , no devils, BUT I believe that life does not end with death. Some of you can babble on about your silly scriptures , but truth be told, in the end you will see exactly how much of your life you wasted on the imaginings of ancient madmen that created your religion merely to control you. Your afterlife will be a mirror of what you are in this world, be careful what seeds you sow.

    • HiPower

How horrible that you try to make money off of the death of child. Monsters.

    • Demon Hunter

I feel for this man. The devastation of losing a loved one, especially a child, is overwhelming and causes some people to go beyond the means of what is acceptable. Unfortunately, this man is committing the sin of necromancy (talking to the dead) and is in fact, speaking with the demonic, and not his daughter at all. The devil is so committed to fooling people, that he walks around, appearing as an angel of light, in order to get others to do his bidding.

Do not be deceived; God cannot be mocked. Many of you will read this and think that I am nuts, and that’s okay.
I am speaking the truth, and have evidence to back up what I speak about. Ghost hunting, and reaching out to speak to the dead is not only forbidden by God, but allows the demonic to come into your life, and attach themselves. Please heed my warning.
