It may be hard to believe that recorded histories that date back nearly 2000 years ago have officially documented the fact that the people of ancient Rome believed that there was life that existed on lesser planets and even on the Moon.

The idea of aliens and their affairs with mankind arose among the ancient atomists (Democritus, but especially Epicurus and Lucretius) as part of an overall philosophical argument against the need for organized religion.

According to Epicurus and Lucretius, the belief that the gods interfere in human affairs was the root of all evil, causing human beings to engage in all manner of vile and foolish activities from war to child sacrifice. In Lucretius’s famous words, which 17 centuries later were to become a favorite taunt of the anti-Christian elements of the Enlightenment, “Tantum religio potuit suadere malorum,” which is Latin for “Only religion was able to persuade men of [such] evil things.”

The Epicurean solution has literally generated the cosmic paranoia of all organized religion against the alien agenda. This paranoia has existed for millennia, there are alien beings, and they exist near the earth or inside the earth. The existence of such beings may be found on the moon or on lesser planets. By embracing a material view of the Universe We can rid ourselves of the need for a divine creator of nature by asserting that everything in the universe came into being as a result of the chance jostling of brute matter (a.k.a. The big bang). Because the number of atoms in a limitless universe is infinite, the random motion of the atoms must have produced a “plurality of worlds.” As Lucretius declared in On the Nature of the Universe, if “the purposeless congregation and coalescence of atoms” brought about all living things in our world — plants, people, and everything in between — then certainly “in other regions there are other earths and various tribes of men and breeds of beasts.”

It is as if the Drake Equation and the Big Bang theories existed between 320 and 370 B.C.

First proposed in 1961 the Drake Equation is used to estimate the number of communicating civilizations in the cosmos, or more simply put, the odds of finding intelligent life in the universe. The equation calculates the number of communicating civilizations by multiplying several variables.

Astronomers certainly could imagine the existence of other planets outside the solar system in 1961, but it took until 1995 until the first confirmed exoplanet was found. Called 51 Pegasi b, the discovery ushered in a new era where astronomers were able to track down first dozens, and then hundreds, of other planets across the universe.

Estimating the total number of planets in the universe is difficult, but one statistical study suggests that in the Milky Way, each star has an average of 1.6 planets – yielding 160 billion alien planets in our home galaxy.

As of March 2014, more than 1,700 exoplanets have been confirmed. The vast bulk of them were due to an observatory called the Kepler Space Telescope, which scrutinized a single spot in the Cygnus constellation between 2009 and 2013. Plumbing the data, astronomers continue to make discoveries from the information.

Now it seems that scrutinizing exo-planets far from our reach creates all kinds of creative dialogue about planets that can sustain life. However it may be to our advantage to pull our telescopes back to our cosmic back yard to determine if the atomists of the third and fourth centuries BC were correct in assuming that life could be on the moon and the lesser planets beyond Mars and Jupiter.

In 2007, NASA launched the Dawn Spacecraft. Its mission was to study the largest dwarf planets in the asteroid belt: Vesta and Ceres. Both lesser planets are named after Roman goddesses; it was proposed that the two planetoids would provide valuable information about the birth of our solar system.

By late 2012, Dawn had accomplished its 14-month survey mission in Vesta’s orbit and was already en route to Ceres. With a diameter of 590 miles, Ceres is the only object in the asteroid belt that is massive enough to be shaped into a sphere by its own gravity. Observations from the Keck and Hubble telescopes suggested ice was present on its surface, leading some scientists to speculate it might even have underground liquid oceans.

Since last December, Dawn has been sending back images of increasingly higher resolution. According to a statement NASA made, some of these images show two mysterious bright spots that currently remain unexplained.

Bright spots have been detected on Ceres before but they appeared as large light-colored areas whereas the lights captured by Dawn appear as small objects much brighter than the surrounding area.

Like an approaching automobile with its bright lights on, the dwarf planet’s luminous objects were seen by Dawn some 51,500 miles out in space. There have been numerous explanations from volcanic activity to possible cracks that are revealing reflective ice crystals. The lights could also be caused by silicates, a type of minerals that have been found on asteroids before.

Then there is that unavoidable, far more speculative theory that NASA bends over backwards to deny.

The speculation of alien life near our planet is not a new idea, it is just one that has been successfully sequestered by science and religion.

From approximately 1600 to 1900 there was first a trickle, then a flood of scientific/philosophical/theological speculation on the nature of extra-terrestrial life.

Such speculation often came from the best scientists of the day. Sir William Herschel (1730-1822), the astronomer who discovered Uranus (1781), claimed that he saw near-certain evidence of forests, circular buildings, canals, roads, and pyramids on the moon — all, of course, signs of Lunarians. He was equally certain that the known planets of our solar system were all peopled and insisted the sun was “a most magnificent habitable globe” filled with solarians “whose organs are adapted to the peculiar circumstances of that vast globe.” Sir John Herschel (1792-1871), William’s son, inherited both his father’s science and his fantasies; he argued that since the front side of the moon was apparently dead, Lunarians must live on the dark side.

Johann Bode (1747-1826), a director of the Berlin Observatory and famous for Bode’s Law, asked of these same Solarians, “Who would doubt their existence?” The reason for such certainty was quasi-theological. “The most wise author of the world assigns an insect lodging on a grain of sand and will certainly not permit…the great ball of the sun to be empty of creatures and still less of rational inhabitants who are ready gratefully to praise the author of life.” The same reasoning led him to affirm the existence of extra-terrestrials on the Moon, Mercury, and Venus.

If belief in Solarians, Lunarians, Jupiterians, Venusians, Mercurians, and Martians seems madness now, during the 18th and 19th centuries it was taken to be the only rational, scientifically grounded view. Small wonder, then, that theologians — both Christian and deist — felt not only inspired but obliged to incorporate extra-terrestrials into their systems.

In January of 2014 Google Moon showed what appeared to be a massive alien spacecraft on the moon. Images showed and L-shaped anomaly with what appeared to be seven lights dotting its edge. The Google Moon imaging is taken from NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbital Camera.

This generated some odd speculation on the internet because a year earlier it was reported that the U.S. government was reportedly secretly tracking two huge objects approaching Earth for two years. This of course was reported by an outside consultant from NASA’s Meteoroid Environment Office, a consultant that remained conveniently anonymous.

January 2013, the objects disappeared all of a sudden about 200,000 miles past Mars, reports the network, but now it seems at least one of them has landed on the moon.

On January 15th, 2014 Three Terrier-Oriole suborbital rockets were launched from NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia at the request of the Department of defense. I was reported by NASA that at the request of DoD project managers, there would be no real-time status updates given to civilians or the press. The launch was not shown live on the Internet. There was a black out issued saying that there would be no launch status updates provided on social media once the countdown begins. The NASA Visitor Center at Wallops would not allow the launch to be viewed by visitors.

On February 24th, 2015 NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility supported the successful launch of three more Terrier-Oriole suborbital rockets for the Department of Defense. All rocket launches and times of departure were classified.

Turner Radio Network reported that “Dr. Eric Norton,” a long-time consultant for the National Security Agency (NSA) and NASA. He described the objects or UFOS near the moon. He claims that he was called in by NASA to help monitor at the MacDonald Observatory in Texas.

According to the report Norton stated:

What I saw was an array of massive, three-dimensional, black structures in space, in straight-line formation, advancing in direction of planet Earth,” he said. He was shown the objects over a three-month period and saw they “had moved millions upon millions of miles closer within just months.

Analyzing the objects, he and his team hypothesized that they must be made of a material several thousand times as hard as the hardest materials known to humans on Earth.

The objects have been a cause of great concern, Norton said, with many questions arising and few answers. Tech and Gadget News speculates:

The gigantic shape actually looks like the leading edge of an immense, triangular space ship, similar to, so far, super secret stealth aircraft technology, but is much larger than any airplane ever built on Earth.

Several videos have now been posted on YouTube showing the possible UFO and the possibility of moon bases seen from the LROC and the Chang’e-2 orbiter.

Anomalies in space have always been exploited politically, religiously and you can also see meaning being projected into these events by astrologers and new age gurus. This is creating a bit of predictive programming. Christian belief systems also get a nudge as the memes of heavenly anomalies become evident and the prophecies of a messianic return all revolve around what the New Testament calls “wonders in heaven.”

After all, Christians have The Book of Luke that says:

There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.

Even the Quran has eschatological passages that indicate the same “signs” and the return or both the Mahdi and Jesus, entities that come from the heavens to fight Dajjal.

However there are many people who fear just like they did anciently that there is an agenda much like the agenda provided by Democritus and his colleagues to use the information of extraterrestrial life as a means to destroy organized religion.

In the 1960s there was a plan devised by the U.S. Government to have in place a conspiracy of denial with regards to the possibility that a new space program would discover the possibility of life elsewhere in the universe. This plan, provided by the Brookings Institute, was completed in December of 1960 and pointed out the very real fear of social disintegration if humanity discovered in its cosmic sojourn proof of extra-terrestrial life. The Brookings report was very clear when it suggested that:

Anthropological files contain many examples of societies sure of their place in the universe which have disintegrated when they had to associate with previously unfamiliar societies espousing different societies in different ways.

Needless to say the guardians of intelligence suggested that if the U.S. space program found evidence of alien life or technology that it would be advisable to withhold that information. Nearly five decades later, much of what the Brookings Institute laid out for the space program still holds and science is still in the act of denial of any intelligent life in space.

This of course has halted or has slowed down the event of government disclosure that for some would prove once and for all that aliens exist.

Meanwhile, the Brookings paper is the only golden ticket that science has to deny and debunk any and all possible thesis on extra terrestrial life. It appears though that it is becoming far more difficult for NASA to deny that their goal is also finding the smoking gun with regard to the question of life out in space.

Since the Curiosity Rover landed on the surface Mars, there have been a number of curious anomalies being sent back to earth that have created all sort of buzz on the Internet. Observers have seen anything from strange human looking statues on Mars, to strange lights beaming up from the surface and of course various Unidentified flying objects that come and go and are recorded.

NASA has done its best to explain that what is being seen is some sort of lens flare or pareidolia much like was done at the time that curious Mars watchers saw a face in the Cydonia region of Mars.

In an email published by The Virtually Strange Network, “Brookings Report Re-examined,” Keith Woodard writes that the Brookings Report

…did raise the possibility of withholding information, but took no position on its advisability. ‘Questions one might wish to answer by such studies,’ intoned the report, ‘would include: how might such information, under what circumstances, be presented to or withheld from the public for what ends?

What might be the role of the discovering scientists and other decision makers regarding release of the fact of discovery?’ Those two sentences comprise the report’s entire commentary on the subject of covering up the truth.”

It was after the Hurricane Katrina disaster that George W. Bush announced that United States was once again preparing to go to the moon and then explore Mars. It was a One hundred and four billion dollar plan to get men back on the Moon by 2015.

The next challenge would be Mars in 2015. In the meantime there were private companies asking people to take part in experiments to see if the average human could withstand and or participate in a Mars expedition. There were even all sorts of polls taken where people would volunteer to go to mars and not return.

The Netherlands-based nonprofit Mars One, which aims to establish a Red Planet settlement beginning in 2025, announced that it had sliced its pool of potential colonists from 1,058 down to 705. The remaining astronaut candidates now advance to an interview round with Mars One’s selection committee.

With all of the anomalous coincidences there has always been the question in the back of a few people’s minds as to whether or not off planet settlements exist or if our Military have secretly established small bases or scout encampments on the Moon or even on Mars.

There have been plenty of weird statements by astronauts and others about how the space program is neglecting its responsibility to Mars. Which once again is curious because the Mars Rover and the saucer experiments.

Apollo astronaut Buzz Aldrin has mentioned many times about anomalous artifacts found on Phobos including a monolith structure, and how a settlement on mars should be led by the United States and that historians will record our success in leaving earth for mars sooner than later.

When Hacker Gary McKinnon breached security on a so called “secure” NASA computer network he happened to hack into a series of computers in the Pentagon, NASA, and other sensitive military locations. McKinnon claimed he was seeking information on UFOs and says he found files dealing with “non-terrestrial officers” and “fleet-to-fleet transfers” involving ships not on any U.S. Navy registry.

This story makes us wonder if we are being told everything about what is going on above us. The McKinnon story is just one of the many that provide circumstantial evidence which points to the possibility that there are secret weapons and stations above us in space and possible settlements or micro bases on either the Moon or Mars.

NASA is a military installation claiming to be civilian. The billions of dollars going to “philanthropic space programs” are mostly funneling into the military industrial complex. Sure there are missions to send probes out in space. But the real reason for NASA is to research the idea of using space as the new battlefield. The question is who are we about to do battle with?

It appears that all of the dreams of space travel and exploration get all the good press but the nightmares above are performed in secret.
