The Soldiers Are Due On Maple Street

In the television program the Twilight Zone there was an episode that was called “The Monsters are due on Maple Street” The neighborhood saw what looked like a meteor flying overhead. It was the last calm and reflective moment – “before the monsters came.”

Maple Street suffered a blackout.

People that live on Maple Street come into the street to discuss the situation. When cars and lawnmowers don’t work a young boy speculates that that “monsters from outer space” are responsible.

Then one neighbor is able to start his car and people would accuse him of being responsible for the blackout or in league with the “monsters.” They begin pointing the finger of blame at one another, and the accusations lead to physical violence.

In the Twilight Zone’s cynical way Aliens were responsible for the blackout. It was their first step in creating enough fear to observe the humans destroy each other. Once the people have fought amongst themselves and depleted their strength the aliens would take over the entire street.

If Maple street were metaphorically New York. If the evening was replaced with the morning of September 11th, 2001 we would be able to understand how the life can be tainted and how the virus of fear could creep in of an external threat that wants to destroy our neighborhoods and others.

Ever since the September attack we have been told that phantom monsters in the form Islamic terrorists are here to destroy our way of life.

Both America’s ruling oligarchy and the Pentagon command recognize that profound social polarization and deepening economic crisis must give rise to social upheavals. They are preparing accordingly.

Over the past decade, under the pretext of prosecuting a “global war on terror,” Washington has enacted a raft of repressive legislation and created a vast new bureaucracy of state control under the Department of Homeland Security. Under the Obama administration, the White House has claimed the power to throw enemies of the state into indefinite military detention or even assassinate them on US soil by means of drone strikes, while radically expanding electronic spying on the American population.

Part of this process has been the ceaseless growth of the power of the US military and its increasing intervention into domestic affairs. In 2002, the creation of the US Northern Command for the first time dedicated a military command to operations within the US itself.

The Posse Comitatus Act of June 18, 1878 strictly limits the Federal government’s ability to use federal military personnel to enforce State laws. Yet, as we have seen time and time again over the last decade, the federal government has been ramping up efforts to police America via federal troops.

From the Department of Homeland securities illegal policing of America, to the numerous urban combat drills performed on the streets of America, it’s very clear that the federal government is guilty of violating the law. But why are we really seeing the Fed’s ramping up these urban training drills?

Such operations are unquestionably of central importance to the US military. Over the past decade, its primary mission, as evidenced in Afghanistan and Iraq, has been the invasion and occupation of relatively powerless countries and the subjugation of their resisting populations, often in house-to-house fighting in urban centers.

Now of course the big secret and the biggest fear is that the urban warfare drills are being meant for homeland deployment. This is the mission that the mainstream narrative fails to report hoping that no one becomes alarmed at the reality. In any situation it is important to prepare for the chaos and the fear that will ensue the minute the first deployment begins.

The Pentagon announced in 2012 the implementation of new rules of engagement for US military forces operating on American soil to provide “support” to “civilian law enforcement authorities, including responses to civil disturbances.”

The document declares sweeping and unprecedented military powers under a section entitled “Emergency Authority.” It asserts the authority of a “federal military commander” in “extraordinary emergency circumstances where prior authorization by the president is impossible and duly constituted local authorities are unable to control the situation, to engage temporarily in activities that are necessary to quell large-scale, unexpected civil disturbances.” In other words, the Pentagon brass claims the unilateral authority to impose martial law.

These powers are not being asserted for the purpose of defending the US population against terrorism or to counter some hypothetical emergency. The US military command is quite conscious of where the danger lies.

What is being upended, behind the scenes and with virtually no media coverage, much less public debate, are constitutional principles dating back centuries that bar the use of the military in civilian law enforcement. In the Declaration of Independence itself, the indictment justifying revolution against King George included the charge that he had affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the civil power.

The control of “selected information” being leaked out to the public through mainstream media, press conferences and other designated outlets has ensured that the targeted audience will support the governmental urban drill campaign out of ignorance. However there have been a few incidents where small and isolated urban warfare exercises have taken place leaving communities shaken and frightened about what is happening to their various neighborhoods.

Residents of Flint Michigan are not happy with their local officials because of an urban war fare drill that was carried out without public notice.

It was a peaceful afternoon, and then residents said it seemingly turned hostile. Jean Glenn a resident of lint says that she was standing near her home when a shockwave and explosion threw her to the ground. Explosions you’d expect in a war zone echoed through Flint. People’s homes shook and those inside were caught off-guard. It all went down at the abandoned Lowell Junior High on the city’s east side.

The blasts were just a routine just an Army exercise, however the ordinance used was enough to scare residents. Flint’s spokesman Jason Lorenz said the city has been in talks with the Army for six months now about using parts of the city. This is part of a joint exercise being one of many carried out across the United States. The exercise train includes using aircraft and simulated ammunition. It will continue for the next 10 days.

Lorenz said for the safety of residents and the military, they’re trying to keep things under wraps. But those nearby say the house-rattling explosions were an unwanted surprise.

Many are speaking out saying that they believe the government has avoided overturning Posse comitatus and has secretly militarized the police and are now practicing to combine forces for a future federalized police force that is militarized without the formality of changing laws.

Are we now at a point in the United States where we don’t understand the implications of what martial law is or what Executive Orders and lists of American citizens marked for death means to the very liberty and well-being of the country?

I wonder if we have been desensitized to a fascist rule that the fix is in and that when the government suggests more police rule, we immediately accept it because we feel that we need to be corralled and under surveillance at all times.

Martial law is not simply an emergency declaration. It is the suspension of civil rights and assumption of all authority by the police or military, which in a democracy are supposed to be under civilian control.

The measure is so extreme that, on the national level, it has been imposed exactly once by Abraham Lincoln. Despite the obvious calamity posed by the Civil War, Lincoln’s imposition of martial law and suspension of habeas corpus remains controversial to this day.

I am sure at the time the psychological impact of armies policing the United States was devastating and in some cases horrifying. The reactions of the people of flint were the same reaction in Chicago when in 2013 black hawk helicopters were seen swooping down and buzzing residents. This was something that once aging was never discussed and which had the citizens of Chicago alarmed.

Once again it would be ill advised not to bring up the jade Helm exercise as it is one of the biggest exercises being planned. It is also going to start earlier than planned.

The psychological impact will be massive as troops will be in various neighborhoods conducting urban military exercises using fake bombs, firing blanks and using black helicopters to land and extract fake prisoners of war and escort them to designated facilities provided by the age old Operation Garden plot exercise that was approved as a standby prisoner system provided during the Reagan administration.

Operation Garden Plot, also known as The Department of Defense Civil Disturbance Plan (18 USC 1385 Posse Comitatus Act), is a general US Army and National Guard plan to respond to major domestic civil disturbances within the United States. The plan was developed in response to the civil disorders of the 1960s and is now under the control of the U.S. Northern Command (NORTHCOM). It provides Federal military and law enforcement assistance to local governments during times of major civil disturbances.

CIA General Counsel Stephen Preston went on the record as saying that “American citizens are not immune from being treated like an enemy if they take up arms against the United States.” Furthermore, they are not immune from being treated like a potential enemy if they protest, assemble with groups or even have the slightest connection to a well-known terrorist organization.

You don’t have to assemble bombs, threaten schoolchildren, or burn a flag to be under suspicion. They don’t even need probable cause. If they think that you are a threat or if they profile you as a terror mastermind, you may not see the light of day.

There are many people who will take the government’s word that the new laws and the civil rights violation only apply to terrorists, however that is naïve and there are a lot of people who have been under the gun and harassed by alphabet agencies and government paid security just because they fit a certain profile that has nothing to do with guilt or any other associations with so called terrorists.

America is literally under the gun. People who have never experienced government harassment are so sure of themselves in the knowledge that it doesn’t happen here, that there are no American targets. It is already assumed that if you are a target you most definitely have some sort of guilt.

This is wrong. But this attitude is normal for those who have been traumatized into accepting, without question or rebellion, a police state.

We Americans have been encouraged to think well of ourselves and our way of life. We are told that the way we live in this country is superior to other countries, even though this ideal life is quickly fading into history; even though other countries, which live differently, seem to have lasted a lot longer than we have.

With this in mind, we can assert that most people in the United States are becoming desensitized to concepts as vast as this New World Order and, in the process, to the ever-present encroachment on human dignity and rights. They do not question barbed wire placed on the perimeter of a political convention, nor the presence of military patrols in the area.

Others have been ever vigilant sending pictures of various train cars carrying tanks or UN vehicles being shipped by truck to some place in the Midwest.

With talk of Jade Helm blowing up across the Internet and the US military pushing back against what they call “conspiracy theorists,” the words and the heated discussion is already creating a dangerous precedent. The fear and paranoia it brings can trigger all sorts of negative reactions from citizens who crack under the constant watch of military aircraft and ordinance moving through their neighborhoods. Many are saying that a routine exercise won’t trigger any kind of reaction. But they are wrong.

We are already seeing foreshadowing incidents in Texas, the state deemed by the Jade Helm exercise as the most hostile.

Real terror-related violence came to Texas, when two men from Phoenix, Arizona, tried to enter a school-owned building in the city of Garland, where the American Freedom Defense Initiative, an anti-Islam group, had organized a “Draw Muhammad” cartoon contest, offering a top prize of ten thousand dollars. The men were carrying assault rifles—which is legal in most cases on Texas streets—and they shot and wounded a security guard before an off-duty traffic officer working at the site shot and killed them, fending off a potential massacre. ISIS has claimed that the men were its agents.

Within minutes of the Waco Texas biker shooting, conspiracy theorists were quick to jump on the event, calling it a ‘false flag’ or a “conspiracy, ‘saying that it was a foreshadowing event that could trigger a military mission creep with the Jade Helm 15 exercise.

What these bewildering scenarios have in common is a perception of Texas as a battlefield in a constant war waged on all fronts. That presumption of a state of siege fostered by politicians willing to pander to fears of mystery maps and foreign infiltration—perhaps in the White House itself—makes it harder to respond rationally, and with respect for civil liberties, when danger truly is clear and present. There are real threats, and that is what makes scaremongering so destructive. If ISIS is the answer to everything, what is the answer to ISIS?

The answer would be clear and that is a Military response on American soil.

Jade Helm 15 would provide that and you don’t have to be conspiracy theorists to acknowledge it.
