Before you read this article, please stop at this link and learn about the cabin that Mark Twain stayed at. This is a replica of the actual cabin that Mark Twain stayed at from the Winter of 1864-1865. The cabin belonged to two local miners named the Gillis Brothers. The fireplace is the original fireplace. Rumor has it that the land where the original cabin was built at is haunted. On 2/12/2017, Deanna Jaxine Stinson – Psychic; Hi-Pee (our psychic dog); Hannah (our other psychic dog) and I, investigate this cabin to see if there is any truth to the rumors. Okay, now that you know everything you need to know about Mark Twain’s Cabin, let’s hear some of the rumors.

Near the cabin are homes and in one of these homes a person named Mark stayed up here for a period of 3 months. He lived with his brother and his wife. Mark claims that late at night, you can sometimes see flying orbs darting in and out of the cabin.

Deanna Jaxine Stinson’s only connection to Mark Twain was when she was a little girl, she was in a school play and played a character named Sally Rogers who was a friend to Tom Sawyer. Now Deanna is at the cabin, the location where the legendary author Mark Twain stayed at. Deanna felt all kinds of positive energy, the energy felt so good, she felt like crying for joy. Another person with psychic abilities is Robert Oliver and he also felt intense energy at this location. 

I have never received any negative reports of dark energy at this location, I only received reports of wholesome positive energy. Mark Twain was known as a wholesome positive person, so it only makes sense.

Glenn Ward, a former Sonora resident said that when he was a kid, he went up to the cabin with 2 other high school friends and he saw 2 elderly men sitting on chairs and one was smoking a pipe. Could this have been the Gillis Brothers? As Glenn and his 2 friends approached the 2 men, they simply disappeared. This happened at about 10:00 p.m.
Glenn has never again had a paranormal experience, but that was a paranormal experience that haunts him to this very day. 

Before the investigation I wasn’t sure if it was just the Gillis Brothers haunting the cabin, or if Mark Twain was also doing a bit of haunting at this cabin. What I do know is that when we are living and leave bits and pieces of things that we are attached to at certain locations, the theory is that after death, our spirit can visit those locations, because you left something that you are attached to at those locations. Whatever you possess in life will carry your energy forever and in death, your spirit can be drawn to that object. Case example: Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus Germanicus aka Caligula after death was seen at every location where he had a possession. Jim Morrison of the Doors and Adolph Hitler ghosts were seen all over the world. Wherever Jim Morrison or Adolph Hitler had a possession, their ghost would be seen at that location. So it is possible that Mark Twain could be seen at this cabin if he left a possession at this cabin. Perhaps his notes, writing papers, quilt pens, clothes? 

When I conducted an EVP session, I asked if Mark Twain or Samuel Clemens was still here and the EVP I obtained is a Class A EVP and it’s a man’s voice either saying “reading” or “greetings”. Deanna feels like it is saying “greetings”, which would be the proper response from a man from the 1800s. Also, “reading” would be a proper response because I would imagine Mark Twain sitting down and reading a good book. So, you the reader be the judge, what do you think it’s saying, see link:

Was that Samuel Clemens telling me that he is reading or just saying “greetings”. Or was that one of the Gillis Brothers? We did not capture any anomalies in our photographs. At one point of time, Hi-Pee and Hannah started chasing nothingness, as if they were chasing a ghost. After Hi-Pee finished chasing nothingness, then he became distracted with a big dog barking and a horse.

Nevertheless, this was a great investigation and it appears that this location is truly haunted!
