When I was in the Army, one of the places I was stationed at was Fort Knox, Kentucky. During my time there, I was teaching elite forces like Marine Recon, 101st (Screaming Eagles) Airborne, 82nd Airborne, Night Stalkers, Air Force Special Operations, Green Beret aka Army Special Forces, Delta Force, West Point and Navy Seals the Soviet Threat. I was in the elite group called OPFOR (Opposing Forces). My rank at the time was E-5 (Buck Sergeant). I would teach these elite forces on how to use the W.E.F.T. System (Wings, Engine, Fuselage and Tail Section) in identifying enemy aircraft. I would also teach the elite forces on how to use Soviet weapons like the AK-47; SVD Sniper Rifle; AKS (Modified Version of the AK-47), etc. I would also don a camouflage ski-mask, a Soviet uniform and black gloves and pretend I was Corporal Dowbowski, a Soviet defector, as I would motivate the elite with calisthenics and talking in a fake Russian accent. I would start off each class with this line…”the Soviet Soldier is and must be considered a formidable foe, we must understand why and what makes him a good soldier, is it his upbringing, his attitude, his pride, his history, his training?”

During my time at Fort Knox, I was extremely busy with OPFOR, but I was determined to investigate on my own, the haunting stories I heard on this base. Fort Knox has so many mysteries at this base. One of those mysteries is how people wonder if there is really any gold left in the vaults of Fort Knox? People wonder if Captain Thomas F. Mantell was actually chasing a UFO or was he chasing a Skyhook balloon? Here is some details of that historical UFO incident:

On January 7, 1948, 25-year-old Captain Thomas F. Mantell, a Kentucky Air National Guard pilot, died in the crash of his P-51 Mustang fighter plane near Franklin, Kentucky, United States, after being sent in pursuit of an unidentified flying object (UFO). Mantell pursued the object in a steep climb and disregarded suggestions to level his altitude. At high altitude, he blacked out from a lack of oxygen; his plane went into a downward spiral and crashed.

I talked with many senior officers about the Mantell case and they all believe he was chasing a Skyhook balloon and not a UFO.

At Fort Knox, there are some ghost stories. I will list those ghost stories below.

Head Bash
There is a ghost that haunts one of the barracks. When soldiers see him, his forehead is dripping down blood. They call him “Head Bash”. Head Bash is also wearing an Army uniform. The story goes that Head Bash went to a strip bar and got friendly with one of the ladies. A 1-percent Outlaw gang member didn’t appreciate this soldier talking with his lady and waited for the soldier to go to the bathroom. The Outlaw motorcyclist/bouncer walked in after him and while Head Bash was urinating and facing the wall, the Outlaw motorcyclist grabbed the back of his head and bashed it into the wall over and over again, killing him. Head Bash is seen at one of the barracks looking confused and lost.

Toy Tiger Lady
There was a club in Louisville, Kentucky called “the Toy Tiger”. Marla aka the Toy Tiger Lady was a regular at this nightclub. One of the soldiers fell in love with her and he would sneak her into his barracks. One night Marla was hitchhiking to the Toy Tiger, so she could meet up with her soldier boyfriend. The person that picked her up, drove her to a secluded cemetery and strangled her to death. Her spirit is seen at one of the barracks looking for her lost love.

Bleeder
A soldier with multiple bullet holes is seen walking on the grounds of Fort Knox. It is said, he was killed when he went to a bar and made fun of a short guy. He humiliated the short guy in front of some ladies. The short guy was so mad, he went out to his car and got a gun. He chased his harasser out to the parking lot, the harasser went underneath a truck to get away from the short guy. The short guy shot him several times underneath the truck. When soldiers see this soldier that was killed, walking around the base, he is bleeding all over his body, hence the name “Bleeder”.

While I was at Fort Knox, I was looking for these ghosts and the closest I got, was at one of the barracks, I may have seen Bleeder. I saw a strange mist form and the misty form moved along for about 3 yards and then dissipated. I believe Fort Knox is very haunted, because of the fatal training accidents, murders and suicides. The soldiers that I talked with have heard disembodied footsteps, unusual pounding on the walls of their barracks, feeling cold spots or feeling strange cold breezes. A couple of soldiers made claim that they were touched by the Toy Tiger Lady.
