Wow, some incredible pictures. Brings back memories. I had an aunt that worked in a plant near Ft. Worth Texas, I think it eventually was called General Dynamics later in years and eventually pulled up stakes and left American and moved to Mexico. My uncle, (Mom’s younest brother) was a tail gunner in that war and went down with his plane near Wake Island and was never found. He remains buried at sea. I have old black and white pictures of both of them in their active duty uniforms. Thanks for the post. Sharing this one.

So, where is the technological breakthrough in photo quality? Kodachrome and Ektachrome where fantastic film emulsions! Just look at the vibrant colors, pin sharp detail, true-to-life images from more than 65 years ago!
To get this quality today a camera such as the canon 1d or 5d would have to be used, these are well over the $1000 mark, in fact the 1d would set you back over $3000!! Yet the camera was more than likely a simple focal plane shutter type and separate light meter! I truly am blown away with the sheer quality and perfect color reproduction of the time…
I wonder what they would say to how it has all turned out today? War causes pain, suffering, loss and nothing really good comes from it, apart from those evil few who make money by selling weapons to their enemies!! I am also quite sure that the generation back then would not have stood for any antics from our government, they would have brought the country to a standstill – hey, there’s an idea

Prescott Bush, Geroge, Sr.’s grandfather was found guilty by the Senate of financing through Union Bank Hitler’s steel for his war machine…read: to build the weapons that were used against us. So he was FOUND GUILTY!!! Guilty: yet Prescott Bush was merely censured by the Senate for being a TRAITOR, basically responsible for all the deaths in WWII. And what do you think “the generation back then” did? Nothing. Nadda. Nutting. So… hey, there’s an idea There’s nothing new under the sun.
