CTR - Choose the Right

I had the honor, privilege, and pleasure to teach 6-7-year-olders in church for three years and two months. It was the most enjoyable assignment I have ever had in church. The class was the CTR-7B class of wide-eyed, energetic boys and girls with minds that sponged knowledge even when you thought they were not paying much attention. The overall theme for that class is “Choose the Right.” That is why the class title is CTR-7. It was my privilege to teach these young students that life is nothing but choices. Choices carry consequences. Problems, penalties, pain, guilt, frustration, injury, illness, and even possible death may accompany wrong, poor, or bad choices. Right choices usually result in happiness, joy, rewards, respect, satisfaction, and a clear conscience.

Yes, making wrong choices may bring immediate gratification, fun, money, wealth, and material benefits. However, long-run consequences may include unhappiness, broken relationships, failure, legal problems, sickness, and dishonor. I gave my students in the CTR-7B class opportunities to make choices. In most instances, the students made right choices and were happy with the results. By the end of the school year, choosing the right was an integral part of the children’s character. They learned to sing the hymn titled “Choose the Right” with lyrics by Joseph L. Townsend (1849-1942) and melody by Henry A. Tuckett (1852-1918).

Choose the right when a choice is placed before you.

In the right the Holy Spirit guides;

When in the right your heart confides.

Now, let us go to the pathetic Congress of the United States and the White House. If most of these clowns that “Choose the Wrong” on a daily basis had proper religious training when they were six and seven years old, which is before the age of accountability (i.e., eight years old), they would, instead, “Choose the Right.” They would not be liars, crooks, cheaters, drunks, sex fiends, pedophiles, sexual deviants, and money grubbing, power hungry idiots. They would care more about serving “We the People” instead of pushing liberalism, leftism, statism, progressivism, socialism, Marxism, Maoism, Leninism, and Communism. They would be true patriots and “strict constructionist” constitutional conservatives.

We need a Congress full of Davy Crockett type of statesmen. We need more “Mr. Smith goes to Washington” type of congressmen. We need elected officials who possess integrity, who still possess a conscience, and who will always first do the right thing. We need elected officials who are responsive to the people. We need presidents of the United States (POTUS) like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Ronald Reagan. We need people of character, for character counts. We must not allow our country to go by way of Marxist-socialism. We need our national character back again. We must make our voices heard on November 2, 2010. Let us not fail our wonderful Republic by giving in to those who want to “spread the wealth.” Let us take our country back.
