Rand Paul And The Constitution

Amazing day on the Senate floor

 Rand Paul used his rights as Senator on Wednesday to filibuster the nomination of John Brennan about the important issue of drone strikes on American soil. He was asking for clarification from the White House about the Constitutional authority of killing an American without due process. Whether the President of the United States would use drones to violate our fifth amendment rights of due process. This wasn’t about Obama, it was about any president using such authority on our soil against American citizens.

 While the president has authority under Article 2 to attack someone on our soil, only if they have taken arms against this country. I think Paul like many others wanted to hear the president and attorney general Holder speak about such limitations. That our government was placed with restraints to inflict its will upon the people, that taking someone’s life should be the last possible outcome. Paul stood up for the American public, not just Republicans, Democrats, or Libertarians but for all who need these protections from government.

 Senator Paul, with Mike lee, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and others stood up for our civil liberties for nearly thirteen hours on Wednesday. Those who stood beside him are to also be commended for their actions, those who didn’t or were opposed should be ashamed. This in the end had nothing to do with Brennan, it had to do with our government violating the Constitution to possible kill you. While it may seem extreme, governments around this world have killed millions of their own people.

 I would like to thank Senator Paul for making his stand for our Constitutional rights, we could use many more people like him.

Now onto the morons

 I would use harsher language to describe McCain and Graham, however don’t wish to be targeted by a drone. These two talking heads couldn’t of course do nothing but bash what Paul did, these two drone loving thugs. McCain couldn’t help himself by saying, “We’ve done, I think, a disservice to a lot of Americans by making them think that somehow they’re in danger from their government,” Does he really think our own government isn’t capable of doing this to its citizens? You should never trust any government, not one of them and that even includes the United States government.

 Apparently somebody needs to give these two Senators a lesson in standing up for civil liberties, not that it would do any good. Paul wasn’t trying to scare anyone, doubtful he did but wanted to have a clear understanding from the White House about drone use on Americans. I’ve had to deal with McCain my whole voting life, looking forward to his retirement someday. If they couldn’t support him or what he did, just keep your big mouths shut for once. I don’t know about the rest of you but I’m sick of both and its time to put them both out to pasture.

 It was a great day, great to hear and see all the people talking about it. The people on Twitter had a great time with #StandWithPaul, too bad two senior Senators couldn’t just enjoy the moment.
