Five Reasons Why You Have the Right to Carry and Should Be Insured

I’ve been watching the news a lot lately. Every morning is a new story about another assault, murder, home invasion, or car-jacking. Every day I have another reason to be glad that I live in a country that allows me the right to own a gun and protect myself. Like most people, I have my own reasons to be concerned with the direction that our country is headed, but there is only one that really matters to me –

1) There are people who would rather take what I have than work for it.
2) There are plenty of people who are willing to prey on the weak.
3) Tempers are short and violence comes easily to the disenfranchised.
4) Prison overcrowding has placed dangerous criminals on the street.
5) My family depends on me to keep them safe.

Any of these reasons would be compelling enough for me to want to carry a weapon. Caring for my wife and family. The thought of questioning my financial ability to carry a weapon for fear of litigation is bothersome to say the least. I am grateful to know that for law abiding gun owners, there is an insurance policy that will protect me should I find the need to protect myself or my family.

Knowing that I have self-defense insurance protection should I be sued or investigated for a lawful shooting is a comfort for both myself and my family. It means that I don’t have to worry that an attempt to protect them will leave them with a stack of bills that they can’t pay. It means that I don’t have to stand impotent while my family suffers at the hands of strangers. 

I would like to think that I would do whatever it took to protect my family in any case. Money shouldn’t be a consideration when you are facing danger. Sadly, in our litigious society, it is. Every action we take is a potential lawsuit. Everywhere we turn there is some dishonest loser willing to lie to make a quick buck. Self-defense insurance gives me peace of mind knowing I don’t have to worry about being a victim twice.

Now that I know about it, I feel like I would be a fool to carry my firearm without self-defense coverage. It’s just another way to protect myself and my family in uncertain times like these. It may be a small expense, but the cost of not having insurance is a price I am not willing to pay.
