The principle problem America faces with a con-con is that it may not be possible to limit the agenda of a constitutional convention. In addition to an amendment relating to a balanced federal budget, for example, a “runaway convention” driven by political fringe groups might propose revising or deleting existing provisions of the Constitution, including the Bill of Rights. This issue was raised in committee in the Virginia House of Delegates.
In fact, several states that passed petitions for a constitutional convention during the 1980s have rescinded them in recent years.
The following Secure Arkansas article provides the reason WHY a Convention of Stated (COS), Article V Amendment Convention or a Constitutional Convention (Con-Con) will destroy America. The following is from the article below but is important that everyone understand if there is a Con-Con you can kiss America good-bye. For the evidence showing the inability of the States to limit an Article V Convention click here .
Be sure to click on all the hot underlined links in the article below to get the complete story.
97 Legislators from 32 States met on December 7, 2013 in Mount Vernon, Virginia, to discuss the Convention of States (COS) also known as an Article V Amendment Convention (Con-Con).
The Convention of States (COS) is also known as an Article V Amendment Convention or Constitutional Convention (Con-Con). Remember: there are evil forces working day and night to get rid of our existing U.S. Constitution. Say NO to a Con-Con of any type. Don’t let your legislator tell you that they can control or limit a Constitutional Convention (better known as an Article V Amendment Convention). That is not true. We’re not calling this NEWS ARTICLE “Propaganda & Article V” for nothing.
The legislators that are part of this Constitution of States (COS) or Con-Con have sold out to special interests groups. All four of the Arkansas legislators attending the Mount Vernon Convention of States (COS) or Con-Con meeting have connections with or are members of American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). ALEC is a special interest group representing corporate America and big business. ALEC writes model legislation and pushes the ALEC members to get the ALEC legislation passed in each state. In exchange, ALEC corporate members kick in big campaign donations into the legislators’ campaign war chests. This is in exchange for the legislator supporting and/or passing the ALEC legislation. Could this be a bribe? In the Arkansas Constitution, Article 5 § 35: Any person who shall, directly or indirectly, offer, give, or promise any money, or thing of value, testimonial, privilege or personal advantage to any executive or judicial officer, or member of the General Assembly; and any such executive or judicial officer, or member of the general Assembly, who shall receive or consent to receive any such consideration, either directly or indirectly, to influence his action in the performance or non performance of this public or official duty, shall be guilty of a felony, and be punished accordingly.
Supporters of an Article V Amendment Convention (Con-Con) are spinning it as a way to limit the power of federal government, but it will actually open the door to negative consequences which We the People will suffer. They may claim that the meeting can be limited in scope, but there’s no guarantee that it won’t become a runaway convention!
Should we ask the state Attorney General to look into this issue? The Mt. Vernon meeting occurred a month ago, and more information needs to be released to us.
The four legislators attending the Mount Vernon Convention of States (COS) from Arkansas are:
Arkansas Representative Randy Alexander District 88, Republican and ALEC member
Arkansas Representative Bob Ballinger, District 97, Republican - has attended ALEC meetings
Arkansas Senator Jason Rapert, District 35, Republican and ALEC member (Note: Jason Rapert would not respond to reporters’ list of questions)
Arkansas Representative Nathan Bell, District 20, Republican and ALEC member
For all the other known American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) members of Arkansas,

Don’t let your legislator tell you that they can control or limit a Constitutional Convention (also known as an Article V Amendment Convention). That is a lie and is deceptive.
Under Article V (five) of the Constitution, our founding fathers established two methods for future generations to add amendments to the Constitution:
Method 1: Two-thirds of both houses of Congress can propose an amendment, and then three-fourths of the states ratify it… or not. (This is the only safe method.)
For Method 2 below, REMEMBER: the U.S. Congress decides the mode of ratification. The state legislators can be circumvented if the Congress calls for ratifying conventions. For the evidence showing the inability of the States to limit an Article V Convention
Method 2: Two-thirds (34) of the states call for a federal constitutional convention, and then three-fourths of the states ratify whatever amendments are proposed by the convention. (This method must be avoided at all costs. This method could lead to a runaway convention in which our original Constitution would be scrapped and a new Constitution would be substituted consequently stripping us from our bill of rights.) There is a proposed Constitution already waiting for the New States of America.
Our legislators have been sold a pack of lies about the Convention of States (COS) that they have NEVER verified.
The evidence presented to pass Montana HJR38 in 2007 called for the canceling of Montana’s standing resolution which called for an Article V Amendment Convention can be found by

The evidence presented to pass HJR38 in 2007 was against calling for an Article V Amendment Convention.
The evidence came from the following individuals:
2 former U.S. Supreme Justices: Chief Justice Warren Burger and Associate Justice Arthur Goldberg
Retired U.S. District Judge Bruce Van Sickle and

The
Val Emmons Show on KARN radio in central Arkansas covered the Mount Vernon meeting on December 7, 2013, and stated that Senator ”Jason Rapert is dangerous when it comes to opening up the Constitution.” The discussion on the Constitutional Convention starts about 7:15 minutes into the 30 minute show. (She gave us permission to use her material.)
Also, Val Emmons mentions Indiana State Senate Pro-Tempore David Long in her show. He joined other lawmakers across the country in December 2013 calling for the convening of a Constitutional Convention pursuant to Article V of the U.S. Constitution.
Please consider doing your own FOIA to your own legislators with these questions. They should be sent to each of the delegates attending the Mount Vernon, Virginia, COS meeting. (The legislators’ names below are of those who attended from Arkansas, and the FOIA specifically mentions Arkansas several times. YOU’LL WANT TO CORRECT IT SO IT REFLECTS THE INFORMATION FROM YOUR OWN STATE. Click here for a U.S. map; then click on your particular state for a link to your state’s legislators home page and other information.)

I’m a Legislature Director working with Citizen Initiatives, along with Director Mike Coons. We represent Alaska.
We are advancing the American agenda not Obama’s !
Our primary goal is to help State Legislatures effectively regain their sovereign authority.
Our amendments provide enforcement powers to the states.
We Re advancing the sovereignty and state rights amendment. Legislative calls for the sovereignty and states rights amendment convention would make it possible for state legislatures to reclaim their sovereign authority.
Thirty four states are need to call for amendment convention.
At least 26 calling states would be needed to excite a Delegate Resolution. Ratification
Requires 38 states.
Article 5 of the constitution does not allow a full blown constitutional convention. It provides for an amendment convention only.
Now !
I’m a true red white and blue American ! I’m sick of the progressives calling every American fighting for God , country, constitution ! And fighting against tyranny ! traitors and terrorist What does the progressives stand for communist !!!!!!! The Obama administration
And the progressives if both party’s are the true traitors ! And should be gathered up and placed a huge P on their backs and marched out of the Senate, Congress, the White House ! P for progressives ! Then placed in ions !
Sorry this is so long !

Our current problem is not with our Constitution and it doesn’t need serious amending. What it seriously needs is legislators, judges and executives who will abide by and enforce both its letter and intent.
what did everyone think FUNDAMENTAL CHANGE WAS?
Fundamental means at the most basic – the foundation. The most basic and fundamental part of the country is the constitution.
Do you see it now? If you voted for Obama you dug your own grave with the Obama brand shovel they handed you. The only thing shovel ready under Obama is the destruction of the United States as we know it.
