Hillary Clinton, the FBI, and Travelgate – a lesson about her moral fiber

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

This time around, let us put the Hillary and her hubby front and center, revealing their past misdeeds. Obama slipped by. One reason was because he had little history that anyone much cared about. But the Clintons. Now there is a different story. Hillary dates back to Watergate with her amoral political ambitions. So this time, let us get it right. Here is a take from the infamous Travel Gate. For the youngins, who were not around at the time to care, it’s worth the full read. Here we go:

Recently, the Washington Free Beacon reported on statements found in archival documents by one of Hillary Clinton’s closest friends, Diane Blair, painting a portrait of Hillary as a ruthless First Lady.

Without question ruthless is an accurate description except not only is Hillary ruthless, she is lawless.

As former civil servant Linda Tripp of Bill Clinton’s impeachment fame recounted to this journalist during the Clintons’ last year in the White House, Hillary was behind the unlawful 1993 Travel office firings, “siccing the FBI on them.”

The Clinton White House fired travel office director Billy Dale and other staffers under the guise of “sloppy accounting” to allegedly give the business to their friends from Arkansas. The staffers were innocent of any wrong doing.

Here’s an excerpt from the book, The Whistleblower: How the Clinton White House Stayed in Power to Reemerge in the Obama White House & on the World Stage.

“The people at travel were amazing,” Linda said. “They worked hard, were apolitical. They were there to serve each incumbent and happy to do it.”

Linda with ease recalled [Director of Travel Office] Billy Dale’s pride and honor to serve. “He effortlessly coordinated complex itineraries.” It was his efficiency in times of crisis that really impressed her. “This wasn’t a job, but a career for Billy and his staff,” Linda raved. “All I did was watch in amazement and awe at how they worked.”

Instantly her tone plunged. It was as if I’d been flung to May 19, 1993, to the travel office firings; to what became the first Clinton scandal: Travelgate.

“Billy Dale was escorted out of the White House by the FBI, put into a paneled van with no seats and told to sit on the floor the day the Clintons removed him,” Linda vividly recalled. “And I watched Hillary orchestrate that whole thing; siccing the FBI on them, getting them out,” she fumed.

“Careerists, while they’re not political, do serve at the pleasure of the president. All President Clinton had to say was, ‘We’re replacing you.’ It would’ve been unheard of, but was within his legal purview to do.” Instead the Clintons did what Linda said they always did: “Destroy their enemy and ruin them.”

The abrupt travel office firings were triggered by what the Clinton White House claimed were allegations of sloppy accounting. In December 1994, Billy Dale was indicted on two counts of embezzlement. The press went berserk criticizing the new administration.

In its aftermath, five of the staffers were reinstated, and in a self-critical report the White House admitted it “erred and would never again shortcircuit proper legal channels by bypassing the Justice Department in seeking an FBI investigation.”

Hillary described Travelgate with cool indifference as, “perhaps worthy of a two-or-three-week life span, instead, in a partisan political climate, it became the first manifestation of an obsession for investigation that persisted into the millennium.” But for Billy Dale, it wasn’t a partisan manifestation. It was the termination of a thirty-plus-year career, and a fight for his freedom. If convicted, he faced a maximum of twenty years in prison and up to $500,000 in fines.”
