Beheading In Oklahoma – Workplace Violence Or Islamic Terroism?

Please note, this post has been all day in the making. I started writing early this morning, but other responsibilities took precedent. During this span of time, other information has become available and the tone of the post has changed.

I am late in getting to this story because of time constraints and other responsibilities. In fact, I think my family knew about the beheading in Moore, Oklahoma before I did. I learned about it from OK Politechs late yesterday afternoon. By now, everyone knows the story. Alton Nolen, a recent convert to Islam, was fired from his job at a food processing plant in Moore. He returned to the plant, hitting a car in the process, went inside and commenced stabbing the first person he saw. That person was 54-year-old Colleen Hufford and before he was finished, Alton Nolen had severed her head. He then found someone else to stab, Traci Johnson.

In was in the middle of that attack when the chief operating officer (some reports have him as former CEO), Mark Vaughan, stopped him by shooting him with a rifle. Yes, you read that right. A man with a gun was prevented from committing another act of murder by a man with a gun. By all accounts, a better man for the job couldn’t have been chosen. Mark Vaughan is a reserve deputy for Oklahoma County and is also a member of the Fast Tactical Response team. He knew just what to do to stop Alton Nolen, who remains hospitalized at the OU Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Traci Johnson is reported to be doing well also.

Some may question why the Moore Police Department has asked for assistance from the FBI to investigate the instance. There is a clear reason for that request. Because of his recent conversion to Islam, Alton Nolen had tried to convert his fellow workers to Islam. Given the nature of the attack, there is every reason to believe Islam may have played a role in the attack. As of yet, many of the details are still unknown, but I am hopeful the authorities will get to the bottom of why this attack took place.

The question I have for all of us is this. Will this attack be classified as workplace violence? If it turns out to be related to Islam, will it be classified as such? I’m not one to be jumping to conclusions, so in the order of fairness, let’s look at a few facts.

NewsOK – Court records show that Nolen has three felony convictions. In the latest case, he pleaded guilty in 2011 to assaulting a highway patrol officer while fleeing arrest.

It took four law enforcement agencies, two helicopters and 12 hours to apprehend Nolen who fled into a wooded area. The two other convictions involved drug crimes. Corrections Department spokesman Jerry Massie said Nolen had no misconduct record during his time in the Oklahoma prison system. He was discharged in March 2013, but is still on probation.

Just a quick point of interest to note, but why is it a criminal would be so drawn to Islam that they would want to convert? Is there something about the religion/cult that speaks to their willingness to commit violence? At the very least, it is something to think about.

As I write this post, speculation abounds about why Alton Nolen committed this violence. The Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City is already working to make sure Islam is not blamed. They are even going so far as to play the victim, saying they have increased security at their mosque because they fear reprisal attacks. What they are not telling is how a crowd of Muslims surrounded the police who were holding a press conference, saying “praise Allah”. This information comes from a local resident, Ben Lawson, via The Gateway Pundit.

Another piece of information that has become available since I started this post early this morning, but is not being reported in the mainstream media is why Alton Nolen was fired from his job at Vaughan Foods. According to what some witnesses are saying, it was because of an argument over Islam, possibly to do with stoning women. That’s another tenet of Islam that goes directly against its description as a religion of peace.

Truth Revolt – Local newspaper McCurtain Gazette reports (no online edition is available):

A classmate of Nolen’s, who didn’t wish to be identified, told this newspaper that he spoke to a close family member of Nolen’s today.

He told this newspaper that according to the family member, Nolen was telling coworkers Thursday of an Islamic teaching that said women should be stoned for an offense, and that an argument followed the mark, Nolen was later fired and returned later Thursday, when he beheaded Colleen Hufford, the family member said.

As you can see, the evidence is beginning to mount that Alton Nolen, who had recently converted to Islam and changed his name to Jah’Keem Yisrael, was acting as so many Muslims are apt to act. Once converted, he thought it was his mission in life to convert everyone else. There is every indication that he was fired because of his willingness to act belligerently over his Islamic beliefs. That seems to have been the basis of the issue, which led to the subsequent violence.

It seems that State Representative John Bennett may have not be so much off target with his remarks about Islam after all. I wonder how long it will take the rest of America to catch up and realize the danger that Islam poses to anyone who dares stand in its way?
