But the following quote is, I believe, crucial:

Today there is fighting in eastern Ukraine. The Ukrainian central authorities have sent the armed forces there and they even use ballistic missiles. Does anybody speak about it? Not a single word. And what does it mean? What does it tell us? This points to the fact, that you want the Ukrainian central authorities to annihilate everyone there, all of their political foes and opponents. Is that what you want? We certainly don’t. And we won’t let it happen. The Russian original sentence is: Вы этого хотите? Мы не хотим. И не позволим. I personally would translate this sentence “You want that? We don’t. And we will not allow this.” You could also translate the last part as “we will not permit this”. This is not an expression of a preference or a much more vague “we won’t condone” or “we oppose”. This is a very categorical statement which warns that Russia will proactively prevent such an outcome.

As I said it many times here already: Russia will not let the Nazis overrun Novorussia.

Militia offensive declared by Ukrainian military for November 16 has not
taken place. That, however, was expected. Besides intensified of
movement of armored vehicles to the front line there are yet, no other
factors for the offensive, as well as for the offensive of the Ukrainian
army.

On November 16 shelling of Donetsk continued. Kuibyshevsky and
Oktyabrsky districts were fired from the positions of AFU in the
locality Peski, the old terminal of Donetsk airport was fired from the
settlement Avdeyevka. Militias struck back with art-strikes on positions
of enforcers in the locality Avdeyevka and Vodyanoye. Artillery duel
did not abate throughout Sunday.

In the Donetsk airport there was a small fight in the night of November
15 to 16. Ukrainian security forces tried to push the militia fighters
of “Somalia” from their positions, however, militias repelled the attack
having opened mortar fire.

In the settlement Avdeyevka there was shooting bout between AFU and AFN
on November 16, also shooting and fighting took place in the village
Opytnoye…….

At the settlement Chernukhino and Bulavinskoye constant artillery
shooting does not subside, Ukrainian military also shelled the
settlement Faschevka. The National Guard fortifications were fired with
MLRS “Grad” and mortars near the settlement Mius……

In the morning of November 16 the seventh Russian Federation aid convoy
arrived in the territory of Novorossia, 50 cars went to Donetsk, 20 – to
Lugansk.

Dutch experts have started transportation of Malaysian Boeing debris from the crash site.

 

Ukrainian army shelled the city maternity hospital in Pervomaisk.
