Obama: Norway, Germany, Denmark, France, Finland, and UK are not “advanced countries.”

The bodies had barely hit the floor before Barack Obama took to the microphones to politicize yet another tragedy. This will come to as a shock to a lot of people… I know it floored me. There was just no way I saw that coming.

I’ve had to make statements like this too many times. Communities like this have had to endure tragedies like this too many times.

We don’t have all the facts, but we do know that once again, innocent people were killed in part because someone who wanted to inflict harm had no trouble getting their hand on a gun.

Now is the time for mourning and for healing. But let’s be clear. At some point, we as a country will have to reckon with the fact that this type of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries. It doesn’t happen in other places with this kind of frequency.

And it is in our power to do something about it. I say that recognizing the politics in this town foreclose a lot of those avenues right now. But it’d be wrong for us not to acknowledge it, and at some point, it’s going to important for the American to come to grips with it and for us to be able to shift how we think about the issue of gun violence collectively.

There are several critical points to be made here.

First, it isn’t politics that foreclose avenues. It is the Constitution. The fact that Obama can’t bring himself to admit that the basic document that establishes the Law of the Land allows citizens to own firearms without his approval tells you all you need to know about the utter unfitness this man has for the office.

Second, Obama doesn’t care about gun violence when it falls outside his narrative. Last year 389 people were shot and killed in Chicago. The majority of them were black. Obama was nowhere to be found. Fifteen people were shot to death in Chicago last week, twelve of them black, Obama was absent. Obama’s Justice Department armed Mexican drug cartels and set off a killing spree that took several hundred lives. Again, he doesn’t care.

Third, Obama would have you believe that mass killings are some unique American activity that could be avoided if only we didn’t have firearms. This angle was brought to my attention on Twitter, so I’ll give full credit and encourage you to follow @fredontwittur

Once you get past the subtle racism and ethnocentrism of the “advanced countries” statement (presumably we shouldn’t expect poor countries and countries with majority non-white populations to do any better than to randomly kill each other) you find that Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark, France here | here, Finland here | here, Belgium, Germany here | here | here | here | here | here, South Korea and Britain here | here | here have all had mass killings involving firearms. All would be considered “advanced countries.” Some of them have draconian anti-gun laws. In nations where guns are nearly impossible to obtain, like Japan, edged weapons have proven quite effective here | here.

Obama is a cheap and tawdry little man who is incapable of addressing any problem or any tragedy without using it for purely partisan political reasons. The sooner this once great nation is shed of this corrupt, inept, and cruelly cynical creature the better off the world will be.
