Russian Soldiers Are Hard to Photograph | The Ugly Truth

Not knowing much about photography, it is a puzzle to me why Russian soldiers are so hard to photograph.
Crimea, Donetsk and now Syria — wherever Russian troops invade, much as our correspondents (and even those of legendary DEBKA!) try, they cannot obtain any photographs of the Russian soldiers.

A recent article in the Examiner informs us that Russian marines are on the move in Syria. This is backed by impeccable sources of information like the Guardian and DEBKA, but … no photographs.

Why? This is not portrait photography. They don’t have to sit for it or pose.

With Russia extending its empire every day, the danger of a Russian invasion is very real to all Europe and arguably to the entire world so it is imperative to be able to recognize the invaders when we see them. The Examiner’s article, “Russian Marines on the Move in Syria” helps us in this respect: it includes a photograph of Russian soldiers in Georgia in 2008. I guess Russian soldiers on the move are all alike: seen one seen them all.

Good looking boys.

Good luck and God speed, Russian soldiers on the move!
