Why are we even playing this silly game?
As we come down to the home stretch of the most incompetent and abusive administration in the history of the Republic we find the Senate GOP leadership is doing everything it can to kowtow to Obama and ensure his influence continues.
The Senate on Monday approved its seventh judicial nomination since Republicans took over the majority in January.
Senators voted 69-21 on Dale Drozd’s nomination to be the U.S. district judge for the Eastern District of California.
Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) 6% (D-Calif.) praised Drozd ahead of the vote, saying that “I am so glad we are going to add this good man to the court.”
I don’t have anything against Drozd other than Boxer calls him “good man” and Obama has nominated him. He could, quite possibly, like puppies and go to church. But why in the name of heaven are we confirming, to life time appointments, anyone recommended by Barack Obama? Beyond that, given the arrogance, recalcitrance, and sheer duplicity of Obama’s dealings with the Congress why would the Senate confirm anyone put forward by this guy for anything? What bargaining chips do we have in dealing with the White House is we tamely confirm every person he nominates to office?
Enough damage has already been done to the judiciary by confirming another generation of liberal judges and embedding them in the judiciary where they will continue to work an infinite amount of harm and mischief. Already Obama has had more judges confirmed than George Bush had at the same point in his tenure. Isn’t it time to stop the rot of our institutions, take a breather, and wait for the next president?
