John Kasich Was Told There Would Be No Math

John Kasich does not understand why everyone keeps telling him to drop out. I mean, everywhere he goes, people repeatedly tell him, “drop out,” and he just doesn’t get it. The idea of John Kasich dropping out makes literally no sense to John Kasich. Why doesn’t everyone just chill out and let him do his thing?

KASICH: No, I’m staying in because at the end of the day, I think I’m going to accumulate enough delegates to win. That’s what I think’s going to happen. [other people who can’t do math applaud] You know, we’re going to go through Tuesday, we’re going to come down here, and we’re gonna perform, you know, well enough to continue… (Kasich lists some states way after Super Tuesday that he thinks he will do well in)… you know, we think we’re going to be in a strong position. And we’re going to keep moving, and if we end up in a brokered convention, I can’t think of a better city to have one in than Cleveland, Ohio. So, we’ll see. I don’t think we’ll… I think it will be decided… So everybody just needs to chill out, we’ve got a long way to go.

You just plug in the numbers that you hypothetically expect to receive in the contests. Go ahead, Mr. Kasich, try it out! In fact, go ahead and assign yourself double your currently RCP poll average in every state that’s coming up in Super Tuesday. Go on ahead, let’s just see what happens when you try that scenario out. You know where you come up? About 260 delegates behind Donald Trump, with about 1800 delegates left outstanding.

What that means is that you would have to get 1030 – or 57% of the delegates from that point on in order to beat Trump, even if you hypothetically suppose that Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio dropped dead the day after Super Tuesday.

And so the reason people keep asking you if you’re going to drop out is that you’re a delusional idiot if you think you can accomplish that. You can’t even beat Donald Trump in your own home state, why do you think you can beat him literally anywhere else? Why do you think you would be even remotely in a better position to challenge Trump than Cruz or Rubio, both of whom you’ll also be trailing after Super Tuesday.

You have absolutely no shot. Everyone knows it. You want to tell us to “chill out”? How about if we tell you to “learn basic math” instead. Go home.
