ISIS update 3/31/2016..Assad: Opposition to be part of transitional government
U.S And Russia Re-Engage In Syria
Britain’s Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond accuses Russia of disregarding international rules in its fight against Daesh terrorists in Syria.
Hammond made the remarks at a joint press conference with Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili in Tbilisi. He said Britain can cooperate with Russia in the fight against Daesh only if Moscow follows the rules of the international system. Russia has been carrying out air strikes against terrorists at the request of the Syrian government since September 30. The US and its allies, including Britain, have also been launching airstrikes in Syria and Iraq since 2014. Their air campaign has been criticized for ineffectiveness in battling the terrorists.
VINCENT WOOD For the Express reports, TONY Blair has urged Britain to send “on the ground” support to local allies in a bid to wipe out Islamic State. The former Prime Minister said the UK should follow in America’s footsteps and send in ground forces to support local militias.

Earlier today, heavy clashes took place on the western outskirts of Azaz city as Kurdish forces and Islamist rebels battled over control of two key checkpoints. Furthermore, reports indicate that the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) and Syrian Democratic Forces are gathering for a major offensive which aims to capture the border-city of Azaz. However, rebels of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and Jabhat al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) have fortified the gates of Azaz and seem more than reluctant to hand over the keys of the city to approaching Kurdish fighters.
Remarkably, rebels in northern Aleppo have been able to stabilize their somewhat vulnerable frontline over the past 40 days or so. Despite some Kurdish advances in early 2016, neither side seems to have the current regional upper hand. Meanwhile, rebel fighters at Azaz seem to enjoy at least some artillery support from the Turkish Army which has been deployed all along the Syrian-Turkish border. Furthermore, the Turkish government is and has historically supplied the rebel-held countryside of Aleppo with goods and supplies, thus hinting at the importance of the Syrian Opposition’s success from a Turkish perspective. With rebels cut off from their Syrian rebel allies in neighbouring Idlib province, they are now increasingly dependent on whatever support they can get from Turkey. However, on the rebels’ eastern flank lurks the Islamic State, which seems more than willing to grab potential thinly defended rebel-held lands as its done several times in the past. The coming weeks will almost undoubtably see a decisive battle between Kurdish forces and Islamist rebels; if the latter is able to defend Azaz and push back along the Turkish border, the armed Syrian Opposition could technically reconnect with rebels in Idlib at some point. Nevertheless, Kurds are unlikely to surrender the Efrin region and might very well gather their forces for a final assault as to capture Azaz city and deal an unbearable blow to the remaining rebels in the region.
How The U.S. Continues To Arm al-Qaeda
According to rebels in the Turkish border zone, weapons have flowed steadily into Syria since the ceasefire began. Even those who hope for a political settlement aren’t betting on one any time soon. Instead they’re stockpiling for the next round, which they expect will be as desperate as the last.
…
“We ask the Friends of Syria and they give us,” [Colonel Hassan Rajoub, commander of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) Division 16], said with a smile. “They have just now given us new supplies of everything. But we want some special weapons to give us a little bit of leverage.”
…
[S]everal FSA commanders said the United States had been forthcoming during the ceasefire period, replenishing arms stocks and leaving open the possibility that some anti-aircraft missiles might be released into northern Syria.
“We expect a surprise,” said one satisfied commander.
…
“The U.S. military commanders are always with us,” Rajoub said. “We ask. They are very cooperative. They understand our needs.”

Hard-core Islamists in the Nusra Front have long outgunned the more secular, nationalist, Western-supported rebels. According to FSA officers, Nusra routinely harvests up to half the weapons supplied by the Friends of Syria, a collection of countries opposed to Assad, and has regularly smashed FSA factions that were corrupt and inefficient — or that Nusra thought were getting too strong or too popular.
