Tehran’s provisional Friday Prayers Leader Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Movahedi Kermani blasted the Riyadh government for supporting the Takfiri terrorist groups in the region, and said the Saudi regime is on the verge of collapse.

Addressing a large and fervent congregation of the people on Tehran University campus on Friday, Ayatollah Movahedi Kermani said, “Al Saud sowed the seeds of discord in the recent meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC), but it should wait for the imminent collapse of its glass palace.”

His remarks came after Riyadh and its allies supported inclusion of certain anti-Iran and anti-Hezbollah paragraphs in the final statement of the recent OIC summit in Turkey.

The senior cleric reiterated that there is no wonder of the Saudi regime’s behavior because it is taking orders from the US, and said, “How come the Muslim countries have remained silent towards the Riyadh government’s wrongdoings.”

In relevant remarks on Monday, Top Military Aide to the Iranian Supreme Leader Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi blasted Riyadh for implementing the US and Israeli plots against Tehran, and said the Saudis will fail in their attempts to undermine Iran’s positive efforts in the region.

“Saudi Arabia has itself seriously involved in the regional crises and formed different coalitions in a bid to play a leading role among the Islamic countries and confront and undermine the regional role of the Islamic Republic of Iran which seeks to invite the Muslim states to unity and strengthen the Islamic resistance pivot in the region,” Rahim Safavi said.

Noting that the Saudis, who are under the influence of the Americans and Zionists’ strategic management, have failed in their 5-year-long interference in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Bahrain, he said Riyadh is now just seeking to play the role of a proxy of the Americans and Zionists to oppose and rival with Iran strategically.

“Yet”, Rahim Safavi ensure, “Iranian politicians will defuse Saudi Arabia’s new plot in the region through vigilance and wisdom.”

In reaction to the Saudis’ move, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif warned them against the outcomes of their unconstructive plots and acts against Tehran, reminding them of the fate of former Iraqi Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Aziz who died in prison last year.

Addressing the last week meeting of the OIC summit in Istanbul, Zarif described the Saudis’ move as against the spirit of Islamic solidarity and in line with the Zionist regime’s interests.

He reminded of the instrumental use of the OIC during the Iraqi-imposed war against Iran (1980-1988), and said, “At that time, Mr. Tariq Aziz, the then Iraqi foreign minister, provided the ground for the approval of certain paragraphs against Iran with the support of certain regional states but we didn’t pay any attention to that anti-Iran approach. We should take lessons from the past. See where Tariq Aziz is now.”

Zarif also blasted Riyadh and its allies’ approach against the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance group, and said, “This act merely gladdens and encourages the Zionist regime.”

He stressed the necessity for the OIC to pursue a policy of strengthening unity among the Islamic states.

Saudi Arabia severed diplomatic relations with Iran on January 3 following demonstrations held in front of its embassy in Tehran and its consulate in Mashhad by angry protesters censuring the Al Saud family for the execution of prominent Shiite cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr in Riyadh on January 2.

Nimr’s execution caused international outrage and sparked anti-Saudi demonstrations in many other countries.

Riyadh has also been attempting to rock the boat in relations between Iran and other world states and has spared no efforts to pressure Tehran.
