CNN Writers Can’t Help But Think of Black People When Felons Are Mentioned
Sometimes, you have to take a hard look at the people in the media and wonder if they’re pranking us, or are they really this “slow”?
Case in point: CNN.
Whoever put out this headline needs a hearty pat on the head.

I’m not even going to get into the meat of the story.
I’m not going to defend Donald Trump. That slug gets nothing from me.
What I will get into is this ironic leap to pearl-clutching that Ashley and Karl rushed to, so sure of their own moral superiority over Trump, and Republicans, in general, that they didn’t think twice about the big, wonking headline to this story – where they equated black voters to felons.
Really.
Ashley, Karl… Was there no other way for you to work out that headline where it didn’t seem as if in your minds: Black voters = felons?
Which one of you came up with the initial idea for this headline, pitched it to the other, only to have the other say, “Yeah! That’s a great headline! It’ll really catch the attention of the readers!”?
Well. It did. Not really in a positive way, but…
Governor McAuliffe recently restored the voting rights of 13,000 felons, on a case by case basis. Are each and every one of them black?
Ashley and Karl can redeem themselves by not only checking the ethnic and racial background of each of those 13,000 felons, but also by confirming their party affiliation.
It’s a tedious venture, I’m sure, but it’s the least they can do.
Ashley, Karl, CNN… Do better.
