Janet Reno, U.S. Attorney General during Bill Clinton’s presidency, died early this morning at the age of 78 from complications of Parkinson’s disease.
Reno was the first woman to serve in the position, and during her tenure was part of several national stories and controversies, including most famously the bloody raid on David Koresh’s Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas.
Reno died peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends, according to her niece, Daphne Webb, who spoke with CBS News.
May she rest in peace.
