From Gen X: A Message to Millennials Regarding the 2016 Presidential Election

The 2016 presidential election has provided endless exposure of the wrongs committed by our two candidates, which made me start to wonder what went wrong, and what is wrong with this situation. How did we get here; to this point, in this place of decay and demise where every day seems more hopeless than the next? I look at these two candidates and find myself in complete astonishment of their narcissistic ways of corruption, thievery, and greed. These two people have brought us a glimpse into terrible and inhumane deeds. Sexual assault, tax evasion, profiting from government, pay-for-play, theft, rape, and treason are among the crimes so numerous that one would need a third hand to count them all. I find it sickening, and I’m disgusted. How could this happen, why is it happening now, and furthermore; how can I stop it?

Naturally, seeking answers, my lens drew focus upon the past. A recent past of a generation defiled. In 1969, the United States landed on the moon. My father was 20 years old. The way he, and many others of his generation tell the story is as if they had some stakeholdership in this event beyond watching it on TV. As if there were a contribution via remarks; a contribution via observations. In the early 1960’s the internet was born. My father was 13. The way he, and many others of his generation tell the story is as if they had some contribution to this invention. Again, a remark; an observation, that they’ve claimed as their own. My father was seven years old when the civil rights movement began; he was 19 when it ended. The way he, and many others of his generation tell the story is as if they had some contribution to this cause. Another remark and observation that they’ve claimed as their own. My father was born in 1949, he is among the oldest of the baby boomers, and had no participation in these events, nor did your parents because they were children at the time…and cognitively, they’re still children now.

So, here we are. A Presidential ticket led up by two people that absolutely defines the rotten, lying, narcissistic, undermining and freakish behavior of an entire generation. I can’t count how many times I’ve been called an ungrateful P.O.S. by baby boomers, but little do they know, I am extremely grateful that their end is near. Millennials and Gen X’ers must come together NOW to destroy the evil created by the devil’s generation.
