President Barack Obama has excelled in some areas since he took office in January 2009. He has mad skills in narcissism, and when it comes to playing the poor victim who can’t get any work done because of the mean Republicans, it’s hard to find somebody better.
Nobody, however, can slay a strawman the way Obama does. He is the true master. He’s done it again, and this time the anti-Trump protests are front and center. Here is what Obama had to say:
President Obama won’t try to call off protests against Donald Trump, he said Thursday, ignoring pleas from the president-elect’s advisers to denounce the nationwide demonstrations.
“I would not advise people who feel strongly or are concerned about some of the issues that have been raised over the course of the campaign, I would not advise them to be silent,” Obama said during a joint news conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Obama said protests are just something Trump would have to get used to as the leader of the free world.
“I’ve been the subject of protests during the course of my eight years,” he said. “And I suspect that there’s not a president in our history that hasn’t been subject to these protests.”
It’s stupendous we can all sit back and applaud our brave President for not bowing to pressure to call on people to stop exercising their first amendment rights! Isn’t he wonderful?
There’s only one problem: Nobody asked President Obama to call off protests. Kellyanne Conway and others have been asking President Obama and Hillary Clinton to speak out against those engaging in violence (including vandalizing businesses, destroying cop cars, etc.) and carrying around ‘protest’ signs that say, “Rape Melania.”
Obama’s weak response is indicative of the Democrats warped condition. For them, no protests are out of line just so long as the right protests are taking place.
Occupy Wall Street. Black Lives Matter. Anti-Trump.
The President says nothing. Other Democrats say nothing. And then what? Somebody gets hurt, and before you know it, the President is out there, condemning the violence perpetrated against people and saying most of the protesters “are not like that.”
President Obama has the bully pulpit. He can at the very least try to do something. He can easily say, “Protesting the results of the election is your right. You do not have a right, however, to engage in violent behavior and carry signs that advocate the sexual assault of the woman who will be your First Lady.”
Unfortunately, he is likely once again, to sit back and do nothing. Until somebody gets hurt.
