Oregon School District Thinks Santa Claus Is Disrespectful and Insensitive To Others

When exactly did we become a nation of whiny babies? When was that plateau reached? A school district in Oregon sent a memo to staff telling to decorate their doors for the upcoming Christmas season but asked them to remember to be sensitive and respectful to others and avoid images of a fat elf in a red suit that goes by the name of Santa Claus.

For real. 

You may still decorate your door or office if you like, but we ask that you be respectful and sensitive to the diverse perspectives and beliefs of our community and refrain from using religious-themed decorations or images like Santa Claus.

How about a snowflake?

I can understand perhaps not putting up a giant post of the manger scene and yelling, “LOOK AT BABY JESUS!” as people walk by offices or classrooms. But the idea that secular Christmas symbols such as Santa Claus are “disrespectful” of others is patently absurd.

We keep hearing about the “war on Christmas, ” and while the term may is a tad overblown, we’re getting closer and closer to a point where Christmas, to many, is no different than Arbor Day.

I know atheists that celebrate Christmas and why? Because Christmas to them is nothing but a season of Santa Claus, Rudolph, Christmas trees, wrapping paper, presents, candy canes, and egg nog. The religious aspect of Christmas in many ways has been eliminated in some respects, o some people are not “offended” at the idea that the actual meaning of Christmas is celebrating the birth of the Savior, Jesus Christ.

Now we’ve reached peak stupidity where Kris Kringle is seen as a potential issue.
