Regrets, Mr. President? Obama Warns Trump Not to Rely on Executive Orders.

This is quite possibly the funniest thing you will read all day. The headline alone brings tears to the eyes as you’re doubled over laughing.

Obama Warns Trump Against Relying On Executive Power

Oh man. Oh man. That was incredi-… What? Yes, dear reader, you read that right. That’s NPR. It’s not from The Onion.

“My suggestion to the president-elect is, you know, going through the legislative process is always better, in part because it’s harder to undo,” Obama said.

Mr. Pen and Phone himself thinks that Donald Trump should go easy on the executive actions? That’s is quite possibly the most absurd thing I’ve ever heard.

Obama told NPR that Trump is “entirely within his lawful power” to sign new executive orders of his own. “Keep in mind, though, that my strong preference has always been to legislate when I can get legislation done. In my first two years I wasn’t relying on executive powers because I had big majorities in the Congress and we were able to get bills done, get bills passed. And even after we lost the majorities in Congress, I bent over backwards consistently to try to find compromise and a – a legislative solution to some of the big problems that we’ve got.”

I really don’t have that much to add here, other than to say Obama spent those first two years telling Republicans he didn’t need them. After he overreached and cost himself his majorities, he assumed the Republicans would play along, and was shocked – SHOCKED, I SAY – to discover they really didn’t like how they were treated from 2008 to 2010. So, that’s when the executive orders started.

Do I want Donald Trump to abuse the executive order system? Not a chance in hell. I still don’t trust the guy. However, if the Democrats aren’t cooperative, go it alone. They would deserve it.
