Trump Sees No Need for Daily Intelligence Briefings

Because he’s got the best brain, or something.

In an interview on Sunday with Fox News’ Chris Wallace, President-elect Trump addressed concerns that he was taking a lackadaisical approach to the daily security briefings that are afforded to incoming presidents.

“You are getting the presidential daily briefing only once a week,” Fox News’ Chris Wallace noted in an interview with the incoming Republican president.

“Yes. Well, I get it when I need it,” Trump responded.

“These are very good people that are giving me the briefings and I say, ‘If something should change from this point, immediately call me. I’m available on one minute’s notice,” Trump explained. “I don’t have to be told the same thing in the same words every single day for the next eight years. I don’t need that.”

Eight years? Let’s get through the first four, then we’ll talk about a second term.

Trump called the briefings a “fluid” situation, and said that VP-elect Pence and his advisers would be getting the necessary briefings. Pence has been getting six a week, according to reports.

“I’ll be there not every day, but more than that,” he said of those situations. “But I don’t need to be told the same thing every day, every morning: ‘Sir, nothing has changed. Let’s go over it again.’”

“I don’t need that,” he repeated.

It does sound silly, until you look at it from the perspective that this is our nation’s security, and Donald Trump is the man who will be overseeing our government.
