(Before It's News)

MSNBC has announced they’ve hired former Fox News Star, Greta Van Susteren to host a new nightly program. Politico reported the new show will called “For the Record” not be confused with “On The Record”, Van Susteren’s previous production, and will air at 6pm.

Van Susteren’s show will feature both news and analysis, working as a bridge from MSNBC’s dayside news shows into its more opinion and analysis-focused primetime. She starts on Jan. 9, and the show will be based out of Washington D.C.

“Greta is a true pro with a proven record of tough journalism,” MSNBC President Phil Griffin said in a statement. “Her broad range of experience and sharp news judgment will be of great value to MSNBC as we build on our momentum going into a new year and a new administration.”

Her show replaces Bloomberg’s “With All Due Respect” time slot, which ended in December.

“I’m thrilled to start my next chapter at MSNBC,” Van Susteren said. “The network is the right destination for the smart news and analysis I hope to deliver every day, and I look forward to joining the talented journalists and analysts I respect there.”

This will be the third cable network for Greta, a layer by trade who got her start doing analysis for CNN. She began making regular appearances during the OJ Simpson trial, then they developed her own series, before she made the move to Fox over a decade ago.

Van Susteren left in Fox News in the summer of 2016, amid controversy at the network involving finances and the Roger Ailes scandal. Like Megyn Kelly before her she has landed at an NBC property. The shuffling of the media deck this election cycle has created some interesting partnerships. It will be fascinating to see how their audiences react.
