Here’s Hoping! Poll Shows 28 Percent of Federal Workers Might Quit Over Trump

A poll taken and released by GovExec.com shows that just over a quarter of federal workers are could be considering quitting their job after Donald Trump officially takes office. Such a force quitting would make cutting the size of government a whole lot easier for the incoming President.

Fourteen percent said that yes, they are considering it, and the same share said “maybe” they are. Of this combined 28 percent, just over half said they are “eligible for retirement and [might] retire earlier than planned,” meaning they might be serious about this.

The same poll shows (unsurprisingly) that 62 percent of federal workers voted for Hillary Clinton, and only 28 percent for Trump. Half of the respondents said they believe Trump’s business experience “will hinder his management of the federal government,” and 28 percent believe that his presidency will have a negative impact on their agency.

Meanwhile, only 24 percent of the federal workers who responded to the poll believe that their agency “produces a significant amount of bureaucratic waste that could be cut.”

This would also make it easy to target which areas needed to be cut. If your job is so unimportant to the execution of government that you can just up and quit because of an inauguration, then your job doesn’t need to be paid for anymore.

Here’s hoping they follow-through and do so quick… though, given that they work for government, their resignations could very well be effective as of 2018, assuming there isn’t retirement paperwork to also fill out (in which case, they will be out of their position by the time Kanye West is inaugurated).
