Syria Warns Israel of Crushing Response to Strikes on Damascus Airbase

The Syrian Army’s High Command, in a formal warning to the Israeli military on Thursday night, threatened to retaliate against the recent aggression against Syria’s sovereignty.

“The army command and armed forces warn Israel of repercussions for their flagrant attacks on the country’s territories,” the Syrian Army’s High Command underlined in an official statement, massdar news reported.

Israeli rockets reportedly struck the al-Mezzeh Airbase in Western Damascus on Thursday night, just one hour after a suicide bombing took place in the Kafr Sousa district of the provincial capital.

Iraqi Forces Enter Mosul University, Capture Tigris Bridge

The Iraqi army and popular forces paved their way into the University of Mosul, and also captured the Tigris bridge in two major victories against the ISIL terrorist group in the Northern city.

The Iraqi forces fought their way into Mosul University compound and liberated a number of its buildings, the Arabic-language al-Sumeria TV channel reported on Friday.

The Mosul University had become a base of the ISIL terrorists who have reportedly been using its laboratory to produce chemical weapons.

Meantime, the Iraqi Counterterrorism Units liberated Mosul’s Freedom Bridge over the Tigris River.

In a relevant development on Thursday, Command of Mosul liberation operations announced that the Iraqi forces recaptured two other neighborhoods in the Eastern side of Mosul.

The Mosul Operations Commander General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah said in a statement that the Iraqi Federal Police managed on Thursday to liberate Somar and Saheroun neighborhoods.

Heavy losses were inflicted on the ISIL terrorists, Yarallah said, adding that the Iraqi flag was raised on several buildings in the two liberated neighborhoods.

Tens of thousands of troops launched a huge offensive to retake Mosul, ISIL’s last major bastion in Iraq, and areas around it on October 17.

Over the past two weeks, Iraqi forces have overrun several districts and reached the Tigris River that runs through the heart of the city for the first time.

Mosul is split by the Tigris River, with the East side referred to as the left bank and the West as the right.
