It’s Inauguration Day: Here’s What to Expect, and When

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Today, January 20, 2017, Donald J. Trump will be sworn in as President of the United States of America.

President-elect Trump will begin the day by attending church with his family at around 8:30 a.m. ET. They will be joined by the Pence family and other cabinet appointees and administration figures.

Tea with President Obama will be at 9:30, wherein Trump, Pence, and their families will enjoy a reception hosted by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House.

The Swearing-In Ceremony begins at 11:30 a.m. this morning. Trump will place his hand upon two Bibles for the ceremony, one from his childhood and one that was used by President Lincoln in the 1861 ceremony, and President Obama in 2009 and 2013. Chief Justice of the Supreme Court John Roberts will administer the other at approximately noon.

Afterward, the Obamas will depart on Air Force One, the transition of power thereby complete. President Obama steps away, President Trump takes the reigns.

It is at that time you can expect the tears and fears from the media to reach peak.

A Congressional Inaugural Luncheon will be held at 1:00 p.m. President Trump and Vice President Pence, along with their spouses, will join the inaugural committee for his first meal as President. The menu will include, steak, lobster, wine, and ice cream. There will be about 200 guests, including both Republicans and Democrats who planned they days events, members of the Supreme Court, and others.

Military Pass in Review will be around 2:30. A fantastic spectacle where our finest and bravest pass before the new Commander-in-Chief as the military bands play. My favorite event of the day and one that should fill any American with pride.

The Inaugural Parade is where all eyes will be all afternoon. It will follow the pass-in-review, and is when President Trump and Vice President Pence lead the way from the Capitol Building down Pennsylvania Avenue. There will be thousands of Americans on the mall and on the streets of D.C. watching our government and military pass through the streets of our capitol. Many thousands will be cheering, excited and welcoming to the new administration.

This is when we’ll see the height of the attempts at disruption from the protesters, who have already been tear-gassed and started fires overnight. I was at this parade for President Obama in 2008. It lasted for hours, the lockdown of the area for many hours after that. There is a lot of chaos mixed in with a lot of peace-keeping, and there is a great deal to see and hear. Watch RedState for updates and live reports throughout the afternoon.

The Balls begin around 7pm. The various balls will have various performers and will be available to watch streaming online. Some of the acts include Marie Osmond, Jackie Evancho, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, the Missouri State University Chorale, Toby Keith, and Lee Greenwood. Both Keith and Greenwood, along with band 3 Doors Down performed at Thursday night’s Welcome Celebration.

It will be a long day with a lot of spectacle. Hundreds of bikers will be in town making their presence known, and protesters by the paid-for busload will there too, trying to make a ruckus and probably succeeding. Press will be packing the streets, buildings, and Starbucks locations around the city trying to find and file every story they can; every angry photo, every screaming protester, and as few happy Americans as they can manage.

But in the end, one President will leave and another will take office. This is how we do it here in America. God Bless this Country, and God Bless President Trump. May he be safe, smart, wise, charitable, fair, just, kind, measured, strong, brave, protected, protective, effective, and above all, righteous. Amen.

Obama may leave after the inauguration the 89th MAW will fly him out but it won’t be on “Air Force One”. The minute Trump becomes President, the Air Force One designation only applies to President Trumps aircraft.
