Turkish Army Loses Key Town to ISIL in Northern Syria

The Turkey-led Euphrates Shield Operation forces withdrew from a key town near al-Bab in Northern Aleppo after their positions came under heavy attack by ISIL.

ISIL engaged in several-hour-long clashes with the Turkish army in the town of al-Baza’ah and managed to capture the town, inflicting heavy casualties on the Turkish soldiers and their allied militants.

The ISIL stormed the positions of the Turkish soldiers and Ankara-backed militants with several bomb-laden suicide vehicles and bombers, inflicting major casualties on the Euphrates Shield Operation’s forces.

ISIL’s attack was very heavy and caused the Turkish army and allied militants to retreat from al-Baza’ah and move to the adjacent village of al-Saflaniyeh, locals reported.

In relevant developments in the province on Friday, ISIL targeted a gathering of Turkish soldiers and Ankara-backed militant groups in a small town near al-Bab East of Aleppo province, killing seven and wounding at least four more.

Syria in Last 24 Hours: Terrorists Sustain Heavy Losses in Army Offensive in Deir Ezzur

The Syrian army attacked the terrorists in Deir Ezzur province, and inflicted heavy losses on the militants over the past 24 hours.

The Syrian army killed and wounded a number of terrorists in the Southern outskirts of the city of Deir Ezzur.

The Syrian army also inflicted heavy losses on the terrorist groups in other key regions across Syria.

Deir Ezzur

Syrian Army troops continued their anti-terrorism operation in the Southern outskirts of Deir Ezzur city and cut off connection between ISIL’s troops after taking control over more positions in the battlefields.

The army men engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL and managed to advance against them in the depth of al-Maqaber (cemetery) region, taking back several hills overlooking ISIL’s lines of movement from al-Thardah mountain to the city of Deir Ezzur.

A military source confirmed that the army soldiers have advances against ISIL and have cut off their supplying roads from Khayaem al-Defa’a.

In the meantime, the Syrian Air Force pounded ISIL’s movements in Tal (hill) al-Khanzir, al-Ma’amel region and al-Thardah crossroad, killing a large number of terrorists and destroying one of the ISIL’s bomb-laden suicide vehicles near al-Syasiyeh bridge.

Aleppo

The General Command of the Army and Armed Forces announced that the Syrian army has established control over 32 towns and farms during the military operation it carried out against ISIL terrorists in the Northeastern countryside of Aleppo Province.

“The army units in cooperation with the supporting forces and the allies liberated, in the large-scale military operation it has launched for 20 days against ISIL terrorist organization, more than 32 towns and farms with a total area of 250 square kilometers,” the General Command said, adding that army troops have also established control over Aleppo-al-Bab highway.

The General Command underlined that the army units stormed fortifications, demined hundreds of explosives and destroyed tens of tunnels of ISIL, inflicting heavy losses upon it in weaponry and personnel.

It pointed out that this achievement expands the range of security surrounding the city of Aleppo and constitutes a platform for improving the military operations against ISIL and increasing the areas controlled by the Syrian Army including the roads connecting the Northern and Eastern areas.

Syrian Army troops have launched military operation in Eastern Aleppo to drive ISIL terrorists out of more lands near Kuweires airbase to pave the ground for the liberation of the towns of al-Bab and Deir Hafer.

Army men, backed by Syrian and Russian bombers, killed tens of ISIL terrorists, including field commanders and high-ranking Emirs of ISIL, destroying several military columns of terrorists during the operation in Eastern Aleppo.

Field sources said that al-Bab is of strategic importance and can be considered as the key to the Eastern part of the province, adding that al-Bab and Deir Hafer are the gates to Raqqa province and their liberation will pave the way for the army to take back Raqqa, the ISIL’s self-proclaimed capital in Syria.

According to latest reports, the Syrian army from South and Southwest, Turkish army from North and Northwest and Kurdish groups form East have laid siege on ISIL-held al-Bab.

Damascus

Syrian Army troops engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL to the East of al-Seen military airport in Northeastern Damascus, pushing them back from more positions.

The army soldiers stormed ISIL’s gatherings and movements and took full control over al-Emarati farm to the East of al-Seen airbase, killing a large number of terrorists and destroying five vehicles.

The army units also managed to seize control of several positions East of the airbase, including Mansour 1 and 2.

Field sources disclosed earlier on Saturday that the army troops have sent more soldiers and military equipment to al-Seen military airport and its surrounding areas to face ISIL and restore more security to Eastern Qalamoun.

Sources said that a large number of fresh forces with advanced military equipment have been sent by the army to al-Seen airbase to confront ISIL in Northern Damascus.

The army men have repelled several ISIL attacks on government forces’ Estrahat al-Safa base and the Eastern flank of the al-Seen airport, killing and wounding tens of terrorists and taking back several positions to the North of Estrahat al-Safa region.

A military source underlined that the army will continue its anti-ISIL operation to tack back the Battalion 559 base and restore full security to the region.

Homs

Syrian Army troops, backed up by the country’s warplanes, continued to attack ISIL’s positions in a key oilfield in Eastern Homs, capturing a number of positions very near to the field.

The army men engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL and seized control over a number of key positions near al-Maher oilfield.

The army soldiers inflicted a heavy death toll on the militants and seized several heights overlooking al-Maher oilfield.

The army troops also captured several military positions near Hayan gas company and won control over the village of al-Baydheh al-Sharqi to the South of Jahar crossroad.

Raqqa

The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) continued the third phase of their Euphrates Rage Operation and advanced against ISIL from two different flanks near Raqqa city.

The SDF forces stormed ISIL’s positions massively, advancing some 11km deep into ISIL-held territories towards Raqqa.

The forces of the Euphrates Rage Operation engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL in the village of Khaniz affiliated to the town of Solouk and also engaged in heavy fighting with the ISIL in the village of Beirebha in the strategic region of Makman.

The Kurdish fighters pushed ISIL back as far as 10km in the village of Khaniz and won control over the road to the village of Khalteh.

They seized control over the village of Bier Sa’adan and three farms in the region.

In the second flank, the SDF could advance against ISIL around 11 kilometers and seized two more villages.

Over 10 ISIL members were killed and one of their military vehicles was destroyed in the attacks.

Sweida

Syrian Army troops and Air Force continued to target ISIL’s positions in the Southern province of Sweida, destroying the group’s command center.

Syrian warplanes bombed heavily a command and communication center of ISIL in Tal (hill) al-Asfar in Sweida countryside, destroying the base and killing or wounding a number of terrorists.

The army soldiers also hit ISIL’s positions in the region, inflicting major losses on the militants.

Also, the Syrian Air Force carried out several combat sorties over ISIL’s positions and movements in Eastern Sweida on Friday, destroying an arms depot and a large fuel tanker.

The warplanes bombed heavily ISIL’s concentration centers and movements to the South of Beir al-Rasi’ei near al-Roshdiyeh, destroying a large depot of arms and ammunition, a large oil tanker and a military vehicle.

The ISIL also suffered a heavy death toll in the air attack.
