Reliable Sources - Columnist Tears into CNN Host for “Ridiculous” Coverage (Video)

While most of the country was prepping for the Super Bowl, CNN’s Brian Stelter of Reliable Sources was getting his clock cleaned by USA Today columnist, Michael Wolff.

Wolff was invited on the Sunday Talk Show to discuss his scathing review of the media in his Newsweek article, “Why The Media Keeps Losing to Donald Trump“. He specifically mentions Stelter and his show in the piece.

The media strategy is to show Trump to be an inept and craven sociopath. The Trump strategy is to show that media people are hopeless prigs out of touch with the nation (e.g., CNN’s media correspondent, Brian Stelter, who turns to the camera every Sunday morning and delivers a pious sermon about Trump’s perfidiousness) and nursing personal grudges.

Ouch. After reading that, Stelter should have known that Wolff was going to be a hostile guest, but the host insisted on pressing for more… and he got it.

Michael Wolf’s most important point was to remind Brian Stelter that the Media is supposed to report the news, not be the center of it.

“It’s not a good look to repeatedly and self-righteously defend your own self interest. The media should not be the story. Every week in this religious sense, you make it the story. We are not the story”

This was a concept that was lost on Mr. Stelter, whose number one concern, unsurprisingly seemed to be the critique of his show.

Mr. Wolff then got more specific… he called out the New York Times and the New Yorker by Name for their ridiculous coverage..

“I mean The New York Times front page looks like it’s 1938 in Germany everyday. The New Yorker has left all of its standards behind and now has become an opinion vehicle, constantly.”

Can’t argue with Wolff on this one, the media’s over the top antics since the election of Donald Trump have created an environment where they seem to be retracting more stories each day as they attempt to frame him as they see him. Based on Brian Stelter’s reaction, one can assume the Media still doesn’t get it. Which is bad news for the rest of us.
