Leftist Prof: ‘I Tried Not to Vomit’ When Passenger Gave Up First Class Seat for Soldier
A leftist Drexel University professor has gone viral for mocking the United States armed forces on Twitter Sunday morning.
Some guy gave up his first class seat for a uniformed soldier. People are thanking him. I’m trying not to vomit or yell about Mosul.
— George Ciccariello (@ciccmaher) March 26, 2017
Is it worse that someone could utter something like this about our military or that more than 1,100 people “liked” the tweet?
Twitter users were ruthless to Ciccariello in their responses to his tweet, too. Here are a few:
@ciccmaher you’re the coward who tweeted “All I want for Christmas is White Genocide” and then ran away from twitter closing yr account

@ciccmaher I’ve worked w Vietnam Vets w PTSD. This tweet literally made me sick to my stomach. Life’s easy from the cheap seats.

@ciccmaher What a remarkably contemptible statement. I hope some day you’ll come to be deeply ashamed of the man you are today.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time Ciccariello has tweeted something incredibly stupid.
Last year, he tweeted that all he wanted for Christmas was “white genocide.” The tweet is odd given that he is, in fact, white himself.
When his tweet prompted the outrage it deserved, and he refused to apologize. He claimed that he was joking and that his critics were “violent racists.”
Following national attention, Drexel University responded to the “white genocide” tweet by calling Ciccariello’s comments “utterly reprehensible” and “deeply disturbing,” adding they were “taking this situation very seriously.”
Only four days after the tweet and their comments, Drexel released a statement defending Ciccariello’s comments, arguing that they fell under the “protected speech” category.
The statement read:
Instances such as this one both test and strengthen Drexel’s fundamental dedication to the principles of academic freedom and freedom of expression… The University vigorously supports the right of its faculty members and students to freely express their opinions in the course of academic debate and discussion.
In this vein, we recognize Professor Ciccariello-Maher’s tweets as protected speech … The University strongly encourages the use of speech — not threats or violence — to counter speech with which one disagrees. In the coming months, we look forward to a constructive exchange of ideas and opinions on the subject of academic freedom and freedom of speech.
While this is just one leftist peddling racism and blatantly disrespecting members of the armed services, we cannot sit idle and allow statements like these to go unnoticed.
We have to fight back against all forms of racism just like we have to defend those that have risked their lives for the freedoms we enjoy today.
