Clarkston, GA in Fight Over Deporting Somali Immigrants

The small Atlanta-area town of Clarkston, Georgia is at the center of a battle in the Peach State over the recently-created Somali Muslim immigrant community. Under preasure from groups such as Women Watch Afrika, Clarkston has declared itself a sanctuary city to protect Somalis inmates and other illegal immigrants from being deported. The city is now only 13% White, down from 20% in 2000.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports:

Clarkston Council members voted unanimously Tuesday night to limit their tiny DeKalb County city’s cooperation with federal deportation officers amid the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration.

…The council’s decision follows the arrests of scores of unauthorized immigrants across Georgia this year, including many Somali nationals in Clarkston this month. Clarkston’s decision also come as President Donald Trump is seeking to strip federal funding from “sanctuary cities” that don’t fully cooperate with ICE. Last week, a federal judge in California temporarily blocked a key part of Trump’s executive order that would withhold the money.

…Glory Kilanko, director and CEO of Women Watch Afrika, a local immigrant support group, hailed the council’s decision.

Naima Musse has been living a nightmare since last Thursday. That’s the day her husband, Abdusalam Hussein was arrested by ICE agents at their home in Dekalb County.

…She told CBS46 that her five kids have just as many questions about what’s going to happen to their dad. Musse said right now he’s being detained in the south Georgia town of Ocilla.

“I can’t even work,” she said tearing up. “I had to go ahead and resign from my job to care for my kids. This is not something that’s just affecting him, it’s affecting the children. He was providing for his children, whose going to provide for them now?”

…’This has never happened to the Somali community in Atlanta,” said Omar Shekey.

Happily, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that efforts are underway to get rid of some of these aliens:

Federal immigration authorities have started arresting Somali nationals in parts of DeKalb and Gwinnett counties that have long been havens for newcomers, including in Clarkston, according to African advocacy groups

…Omar Shekhey, the executive director for the Somali American Community Center in Clarkston, said as many as 10 Somalis have been arrested in Clarkston, Stone Mountain and in Gwinnett this week alone. He worries they could be deported to Somalia, which is now in the grips of a deadly drought. Those who have been arrested have been in the U.S. for many years, Shekhey said.

It is a very small start. Georgia will soon turn from red to blue if anti-White demographic trends in the state are not reverses. Still, the crackdown on Somalis, one of the most primitive and violent ethnic groupa on Earth, is encouraging.
