Comey-Sasse Exchange: WikiLeaks Endangers American Lives, A Conduit For Russian Intelligence

FBI Director James Comey’s testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee today actually hit on quite a diverse collection of information.

Some of those sitting committee members wanted information on terrorism and counter-terrorism stats.

Many of the Democrats wanted to know about the probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

During an exchange between Comey and Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse, Sasse asked Comey if the FBI considered WikiLeaks to be a legitimate source of news.

Hence, the term “intelligence porn” was born.

Said Comey:

“It crosses a line when it moves from being about trying to educate a public, and instead just becomes about intelligence porn, frankly, just pushing out information … without regard to the First Amendment values that normally underlie press reporting, and simply becomes a conduit for the Russian intelligence services … just to push out information to damage the United States,” Comey said.

“There’s nothing that even smells journalist about some of this content.”

It was an excellent exchange, out of many.
