Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Repels Terrorists’ Attacks on Gov’t Positions in Hama

The Syrian army soldiers repelled terrorists’ attacks on their positions in Hama province after hours of clashes, inflicting major losses on them.

The terrorists’ offensives to capture the government forces’ positions in Hama were fended off by the strong defense of the Syrian military men.

Meantime, the Syrian army and popular forces continued their military advances in other parts of Syria, including Damascus and Dara’a, over the past 24 hours.

Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured during the Syrian army’s operations in Syria’s key provinces.

Hama

The Syrian Army troops warded off the terrorist groups’ large-scale offensive in Southern Hama, killing and wounding a number of the militants.

The army soldiers engaged in fierce clashes with a group of terrorists that tried to prevail over the pro-government forces’ positions in the village of Jadrin between Northern Homs and Southern Hama, and managed to repel their attack.

The terrorists lost a number of fighters under the army soldiers’ heavy machinegun fire.

In the meantime, the army’s artillery units targeted the positions of the Al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board) near a square in the small town of Hirbnafsa in Southern Hama, killing a number of militants and destroying their equipment.

Local sources in Northern Hama reported that the Syrian Air Force bombed the movements of Jeish al-Izzah terrorists in the towns of Lahaya and Alboyzeh, inflicting a dozen casualties on the terrorists.

Aleppo

The Kurdish forces, deployed in Northwestern Aleppo near the border with Turkey, have handed over nine checkpoints to the Syrian Army troops, local sources said Thursday.

The sources said that under a deal brokered by the Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria, the Kurdish forces allowed the Syrian army soldiers to take over 9 checkpoints in Afrin region at the frontline near the militant-held areas.

The sources added that the Syrian national flag was spotted at Ein Daqneh, Mar’anaz and Kafr Jana.

In the meantime, the Syrian Army vowed to retake other points from the militants.

A Syrian military man, meantime, claimed that 3 villages were captured by the government forces on the 1st of May.

It was also disclosed that the Russian military police and Kurdish units are patrolling the border areas of Afrin District in order to prevent clashes with the Turkish Armed Forces.

Damascus

The Syrian Army troops continued to hit terrorists’ defense lines in al-Qaboun district in Eastern Ghouta, capturing more positions and inflicting major losses on the terrorists.

The army men engaged in a fresh round of street battles with Al-Nusra Front in al-Qaboun and drove the terrorists back from several residential complexes in the Southeastern part of the district to the North.

The Al-Nusra lost a number of its members in the clashes.

In the meantime, the army’s artillery and missile units opened heavy fire at the positions of the terrorists in al-Qaboun, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.

Meantime, local sources confirmed on Thursday that one of the top three commanders of Jeish al-Islam has been killed in fierce clashes with two other rival terrorist groups in Eastern Ghouta.

The sources said that Na’aman Awaz, nom de guerre Abu Osam, famous as Jeish al-Islam’s third top commander, has been killed in battle with Faylaq al-Rahman and Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at (the Levant Liberation Board) in Eastern Damascus.

Awaz was the Chief of the Religious Committee of Jeish al-Islam.

The sources added that in the clashes that erupted between Jeish al-Islam with Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at and Faylaq al-Rahman the former took control over the settlements of Hazah and Mesraba, while Faylaq fighters captured the settlements of Beit Sowa, Hamouriyeh, Zmelka and Sabqa.

“Heavy infighting is underway between rival rebel factions in the towns and settlements of Arbin, Hazah, Hamouriyeh, Sabqa and Hawsh al-Ash’ari,” they added.

Deir Ezzur

Two senior field commanders of the ISIL terrorist group were killed under Syrian Army’s artillery and missile fire South of Deir Ezzur city.

The artillery and missile units launched heavy shelling on ISIL’s movements and positions in al-Maqaber (cemetery) region, killing a number of terrorists, including Abu Zobeir Maqrebi, the terrorist group’s commander in charge of supplying arms and ammunition in the Euphrates region and Hassan Abdul Hamid Molla, another commander.

Local sources in Eastern Syria reported that a group of civilians in the town of Albu Kamal attacked one of the positions of ISIL on the outskirts of the town, killing two terrorists and setting fire at several of their vehicles.

The sources further added that the body of another ISIL commander has been found in the town of Muhassan following continued execution of the terrorist group’s commanders in Deir Ezzur province.

Homs

The Syrian Army troops continued to attack the positions of the ISIL terrorist group in Eastern Homs and managed to push ISIL back from more positions in near Mount al-Shoumeriyeh.

The army men engaged in fierce clashes with the ISIL in al-Shoumeriyeh region and won control over the villages of al-Tadmuriyeh, al-Khaliliyeh and al-Mahsham.

The army soldiers also drove ISIL out of several hills in areas surrounding Mount al-Shoumeriyeh.

The ISIL lost tens of fighters and its military hardware sustained major damage in the attacks.

In the meantime, the army’s artillery and missile units shelled heavily ISIL’s positions in the village of Um Sahrij in Eastern Homs, destroying a missile launching base and killing six crews.

Also, local sources in Northern Homs reported that the army’s soldiers targeted two bomb-laden suicide vehicles of the Al-Nusra Front in the village of Deir Foul, killing a number of militants.
