Trump Once Blackmailed Joe/Mika on Twitter; Things Are Different Now

Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski are getting married. That these two are a couple is likely one of the worst kept secrets in media and politics. It will be interesting to see how this plays out on air over since there’s always been the “are they or aren’t they” vibe going on. Whatever happens, it is sure to be entertaining.

The story of how it all happened appears in a Vanity Fair article (the story broke on Page Six of the NY Post, first) and there is this very interesting passage:

Wedding plans are still up in the air, too. They have already ruled one idea out, however. In January, when they went to visit Donald Trump in the White House just a little more than a week after his inauguration, Scarborough and Brzezinski sat down for lunch with the president, Ivanka Trump, and Jared Kushner, ostensibly to talk to their longtime friend about his first week in office and issues related to women. Once the fish and scalloped potatoes had been served, and special sauces delivered directly to Trump were placed on the table, the couple said that the president came up with an idea: If they planned on getting married, they should consider doing so at Mar-a-Lago or the White House, they recalled. “That’s when Jared interrupted and said, ‘Hey, you know what? I’ve got my license. I could marry you,’” Scarborough said. (A White House spokeswoman had no comment.)

It’s interesting as last August, Donald Trump tweeted the following:

Some day, when things calm down, I’ll tell the real story of @JoeNBC and his very insecure long-time girlfriend, @morningmika. Two clowns!

So here was Donald Trump, apparently engaging in a little Twitter blackmail and then five months later he’s offering to host the wedding?

Maybe Trump is like Joe Biden. When Biden says something nutty or out of line, people excuse it with, “Oh that’s just Joe being Joe! HAHAHA!” I suppose it’s similar with Trump. “Oh, that little blackmail thing? That’s just Donald being Donald!”

Do we really want crazy uncles running the government?
