Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Inflicts Heavy Losses on Terrorists in Deir Ezzur Province

The Syrian army hit hard the terrorists’ military positions and hardware in Deir Ezzur province in Eastern Syria.

The Syrian army hit hard the terrorists’ military positions and hardware in Deir Ezzur province in Eastern Syria.

The terrorists in Deir Ezzur province sustained heavy losses in tough battle with the Syrian army.

The Syrian army also continued its advances in other key provinces across Syria.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian army backed by the country’s air force inflicted heavy losses on the ISIL by hitting their military positions and movements in Deir Ezzur.

The Syrian army’s missile and artillery units heavily pounded the ISIL’s military positions in the surrounding areas of Panorama, Tal Borouk, Deir Ezzur airport, al-Tharda, Huweiqa and the village of Ayash, killing a number of the ISIL terrorists and destroying their military vehicles and equipment.

The Syrian army units stationed in Deir Ezzur military airport also managed to destroy the military vehicles of the terrorists and seized a military vehicle.

The Syrian air force also struck the ISIL’s military positions in Hatleh village and the surrounding areas of Deir Ezzur, and destroyed their military vehicles.

Damascus

The Syrian army troops continued military operations against the terrorists in Southeastern Damascus, and regained control of a strategic hill in the region.

The army soldiers could drive the terrorists back from al-Rabiyeh hill after clashes with the militants in Southeastern Damascus.

During the operations, a number of terrorists were killed and wounded.

The Syrian army sent hundreds of reinforcements to Damascus province last week as security sources disclosed that the government troops are preparing for sensitive and massive military operations near the capital city.

“The Syrian army intends to kick off a large-scale military operation soon to recapture Jobar district from terrorists,” a security source said.

The source went on to say that Damascus is in the final stage of preparations to dispatch troops and military equipment to the vital front while the missile and artillery units of the Syrian army are continuously targeting the terrorists’ defense lines in the region.

“Jobar is highly important for the Damascus government because by recapturing this region, the terrorists will no longer be able to hit the capital city with their rockets and mortar shells.

The Syrian army and air force continue raiding Al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board) in Southwestern and Southeastern Damascus, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.

Raqqa

The Syrian army captured the key town of Resafa after fierce clashes with the terrorists in Western Raqqa, forcing a large number of the terrorists to retreat from their positions towards other areas in the province.

Syrian soldiers managed to liberate the important town and the crossroads of Resafa in Southwestern Raqqa.

A military source, meantime, announced that Damascus troops are currently defusing the mines and bombs planted by the ISIL terrorists in the town.

Now that they have captured Resafa, Army troops are able to secure the path to Deir Ezzur as Resafa is the junction of the roads from Raqqa city and Deir Ezzur province.

The source also disclosed that following the recent advances made the Syrian troops which resulted in recapturing Resafa, the Kurdish militants will not be able to move towards the key energy zones from the direction of Southern al-Tabbaqa.

Earlier on Monday, the Syrian army troops continued their advances in Raqqa province and managed to regain control of several new regions and get closer to one of ISIL’s most important military bases West of Raqqa.

The army troops managed to liberate Al-Aysawi village in fierce clashes with ISIL militants, and then launched an attack on Jaydeen which resulted in recapturing the strategic village near the key town of Resafa.

The Syrian Army continued its military operations in Raqqa’s Western countryside, hitting several points that still are under ISIL’s control.

Before recapturing Al-Aysawi and Jaydeen, the Syrian Army had stormed al-Karadi to capture the village, and finally forced the Takfiri terrorists to retreat from another village in the province.

Meantime, the Syrian army continued its military operations against ISIL in the Western countryside of Raqqa, and managed to gain control over a number of regions and villages.

The army units took control of the village of Haniteh-Anbaj after recapturing key oilfields and al-Karadi, Akhu Hadleh, Jeb al-Sa’ad and Rasm Amoun in Raqqa province.

The recaptured regions are located on both sides of Ithriya-Raqqa international highway and the Syrian army is now only 20 kilometers from al-Tabbaqa military airport.

The military sources, meantime, disclosed that the Syrian army will not move towards al-Tabbaqa airport at present because the Syrian army’s current mission is to purge the ISIL terrorists from the Southern and Northern regions of the ancient city of al-Resafeh as well as the town of al-Koum deep into Badiyeh (desert) and then besiege the ISIL in the town of al-Sukhna to eventually move to break the siege of Deir Ezzur.

The Syrian army troops had earlier managed to reach the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) through the Euphrates river from Abu Assi and Shoeib al-Zekr in Western al-Tabbaqa towards al-Resafeh-Raqqa road.

Dara’a

A senior Syrian legislator underlined the possibility for extending ceasefire in Dara’a, adding that terrorists in several villages and regions in the province have declared preparedness to ink peace agreement with the government.

Jamal Hassan al-Za’abi said that the ceasefire in Dara’a was announced after the Syrian army forces gained major achievements in recent weeks.

He added that the army soldiers have gained great victories against the terrorists in the camp area and Dara’a al-Balad and liberated different regions which forced the militants to ask for ceasefire.

The Syrian MP stressed that after the ceasefire, many regions of Dara’a will join the peace agreement.

He also raised the possibility for extending the ceasefire plan, and said the terrorists violated the plan only three hours after the ceasefire went into effect, but the Syrian army doesn’t intend to respond to them at all.

Za’abi underscored that the Syrian army has decided to control the situation and keep the ceasefire, but the terrorist groups take orders from the foreign sides and are not much loyal to the ceasefire plan.

Homs

The Syrian army kept the momentum of its march on ISIL positions in Homs, and deployed troops at the entrance of the terrorist group’s last stronghold in the Eastern parts of the province.

The army units managed to fully recapture the protected area of Talileh (Mahmieh al-Talileh) East of the ancient city of Palmyra (Tadmur).

Meantime, a military source reiterated that the Syrian soldiers also seized control of the Third power plant in Eastern Palmyra after reinforcing their military positions in Mahmieh al-Talileh region.

The source also underlined that the Third Power Plant is the starting point for Syria’s military operations towards al-Sukhnah region.

“The Syrian troops will pave their way to enter Deir Ezzur and break the siege of the city and its airport,” he added.

US-Led Coalition Bombers Continue Massacring Civilians in Syria

Over a dozen other Syrian civilians were killed in another US-led coalition air raid in areas near the border with Iraq.

“At least 12 civilians have reportedly been killed after US coalition fighter jets struck a number of targets in a village next to the Syrian-Iraqi border,” eyewitnesses disclosed.

According to the report, the US-led anti-ISIL coalition warplanes have launched a series of air raids in Hasaka province. In one of the strikes, the bombers struck Tel Hayr village near the Syrian-Iraqi border, killing 12 people, all belonging to one family.

ISIL Media Agency Cameraman Found Beheaded in Kirkuk

Unknown individuals beheaded a cameraman operating within the ISIL’s main media agency in Southwestern Kirkuk, a source said Tuesday.

The source said that a cameraman working for Amaq News Agency, ISIL’s media arm, was found beheaded at a country road in al-Riyadh, southwest of the province, Al Sumariya reported.

ISIL members were put on alert to search for the attackers, according to the source.

Al-Riyadh and other neighboring areas in Southwest Kirkuk have been under ISIL control since 2014, when the group emerged to proclaim a “caliphate” in Iraq and Syria. The group executed dozens of civilians and security members there, forcing thousands to flee homes.

Iraqi Forces Advance Further Into Old City of Mosul

Iraqi government forces pushed deeper in Mosul’s militant-held district of Old City as they are battling to purge ISIL Takfiri militants out of their last bastion in the country’s second largest city, warning civilians to stay inside and telling terrorists to “surrender or die.”

Staff Major General Maan al-Saadi, a top commander in the elite Counter Terrorism Service, said Iraqi forces advanced into the Old City on Monday, and took control of new areas in the Faruq neighborhood, presstv reported.

He added that ISIL Takfiris are putting up fierce resistance in the wake of the Iraqi army’s territorial gains.

“Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) resistance has been fierce. They have blocked every entrance, planted IEDs (improvised explosive devices) and booby-trapped houses our forces might be near. Penetrating was very difficult. Today the fighting is face to face,” Saadi pointed out.
