Debbie Wasserman’s “Advisor” Has Hard Drives Seized by FBI

The former head of the DNC continues to struggle with propriety and legalities.

Long embroiled in controversy over the course of the last year Debbie Wasserman Schultz continues to generate the type of publicity that would embarrass normal human beings not hell-bent on power and influence. The latest is a comedic fiasco involving a Pakistani IT expert she has been shielding from investigators. The reasons why are as stark as the incompetence on display.

The Daily Caller has reported the news that the FBI has come into possession of computer hardware allegedly held by Imran Awan, one of a handful of IT workers from the House of Representatives accused of stealing a significant number of laptops from the offices of a number of representatives, as well as having unauthorized access to the House IT network and off-loading information to a remote server.

Beginning last year Schultz has been mired in controversy, and it has only been ramping up this summer. It was this past February when the House IT violations were first reported, and while many of the participants were fired and had credentials stripped, Debbie elected to protect Awan by hiring him on as an “advisor”. She also had a confrontation with investigators, demanding that computers confiscated as part of the investigation be returned directly to her. Now more bumbling subterfuge has been revealed.

Awan is also known to have had Debbie’s passwords, and thus access to DNC servers, while she was the party head during the scandal that chased her from that position. Her reasons to protect Imran seem rooted in self-preservation.

What Daily Caller discovered was when the House scandal broke Awan immediately placed his residence on the rental market.

Shortly after the criminal probe was revealed in February, Imran abruptly moved out of his longtime home on Hawkshead Drive in Lorton, Va., and listed it for rent on a website that connects landlords with military families. One of the new tenants — a Marine Corps veteran married to a female Navy Officer — said he found “wireless routers, hard drives that look like they tried to destroy, laptops, [and] a lot of brand new expensive toner.”

“It was in the garage. They recycled cabinets and lined them along the walls. They left in a huge hurry,” the Marine said. “It looks like government-issued equipment. We turned that stuff over.”

The residents called in the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), but instead of Jethro Gibbs arriving it was the FBI and Capitol police. Clearly they knew something substantial to the February activity must be connected. Meanwhile Awan began to display tendencies that he at once positioned himself as a master of clandestine activity, while behaving something closer to Inspector Gadget.

First Awan began to badger his tenants to return the computer items he had left behind when he vacated in a rush. Next, as certified mail arrived at the address, he became despondent that his tenants signed for the items. These mailings had been sent from the Chief Administrative Officer of The House. When they asked what they should do when another cable arrived at the home they were told by Awan to refuse the letter, and that the letter could not be forwarded due to Awan being “homeless”. The man, with a rental property, was declaring himself homeless.

This genius-play follows the other bit of stunted spycraft that occurred last month. Schultz is a defendant in a case in a Fort Lauderdale Federal court attached to the DNC activities of rigging for hillary. A phone call was placed to the plaintiff law firm, asking direct questions of the case. Recognizing this was an actionable offense the caller used a voice modulator to disguise themself — however they failed to disengage the caller ID. That call emanated from Schultz’s office in Aventura, FL.

Pretty soon it may make sense for them to turn themselves via the Baker Act, before they become a harm to themselves.
