Kurdish-Led SDF, Turkey-Backed Militants Exchange Fire in Northern Syria

Several militants, backed up by the Turkish Army, were injured in exchange of heavy fire with the predominately Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Northern Aleppo, Syria on Sunday.

The Kurdish-language Hawar news reported that artillery units of the Turkish army and its militant allies in the villages of Kaljabrin and Mare’a shelled the SDF strongholds in the villages of Ein al-Daqnah and Ming in al-Shahba region in Northern Aleppo.

Hawar news further added that two Turkish spy planes flew over Ein Daqna and Ming following the artillery attacks on the villages.

The report also said that the militants’ artillery units also targeted the towns of Tal Rifat, Sheikh Issa, Harbal, Samouqeh, Shahba dam, Tal Maziqa and Haliseh.

The Kurdish news outlet further said that the SDF carried out retaliatory attacks and pounded terrorists’ positions, leaving three militants injured and a vehicle destroyed.

Hawar also stated in a report on Saturday that the Turkish Army built a new road in Northern Aleppo to use it in its imminent operation against the Kurdish fighters in Afrin region.

The Kurdish-language news outlet said the Turkish army’s engineering units constructed military roads in the region under their control adjacent to the village of Kardu in Bolboleh region, adding that the army dispatched a large volume of military equipment and a large number of soldiers to Bolboleh border region.

Hawar news added that the engineering units constructed a 3-kolometer-long road with 6m of width.

The road is 300m away from Kardu, Hawar news said, adding that the Turkish army is to use the road for its imminent operation against Kurds.

In the meantime, the Turkish military is building a 5-kilometer-long buffer wall between the villages of Obeidan in Bolboleh and Marsou in Shara region.
