Christ Pratt Credits Jesus Christ at Teen Choice Awards [Video]

Actor Chris Pratt has been in the news lately after the very sad news that he and his wife of 8 years have separated. The couple have one son. While a lot of Redstate readers might wonder why anyone cares about the marital issues of a Hollywood star, Pratt and wife Anna Farris have been beloved celebrities to many people. They’ve been open about how their faith helped them through the life-and-death struggle of their premature son (now healthy and thriving) and Pratt has been very vocal about his own faith journey. The actor became a Christian after being confronted by a street preacher in Hawaii, where he waited tables before his move to Los Angeles.

Divorce is tough for anyone, but when you’re being scrutinized by millions of obsessed fans and hundreds of gossip sites it can make the terrible process even worse.

Pratt appeared publicly for the first time since he announced the split last night at the Nickelodeon Teen Choice Awards to accept an award for “Choice Actor: Sci-Fi”. The awards show is a fun, light-hearted, kid-centric event where actors receive surf boards as awards and kids get to pick their favorites.

The actor looked very tired and one can only imagine the pressure he was under to make a statement about his marriage. However, he did something different in his acceptance speech; something you don’t hear many leading men and women do these days…he thanked Jesus. Pratt spoke about how he got into the business and thanked his agents and costars. While not making a direct statement about his personal issues, the Jurassic World actor seemed to hint at them and recognized that he had help in being able to weather the current storm.

“I wouldn’t be here tonight with the ease and grace I have in my heart without Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.”

It might not be a big deal to some, but in an age (and industry) where being a follower of Jesus is pretty unpopular it’s a bold move to stand in front of a nation that knows your struggle and is judging your sin and still give glory to the God of grace and forgiveness.
