Donald Trump Getting Impeached Is Now More Likely Than Getting Married

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Impeachment is very much the talk of the times. So much so, that there has been gossip of Donald Trump being ousted pretty much since he won the presidential election in November 2016. Despite sitting in the Oval Office for less than 12 months, the 45th president has racked up even more controversies than most of his opponents could have predicted, as well as a few strange tweets along the way.

Talk of impeachment has only grown stronger off the back of the controversial pardon of former Arizona sheriff Joe Arpiao, and despite the 45th president’s various controversies, he remains in the hot seat. But for how much longer? With the talk of impeachment getting louder, there are some staggering odds that will not make for good reading for President Trump.

Incredibly, the likelihood of Trump being impeached by the end of the year is now lower than him winning the presidency in the first place. On top of this, with recent research suggesting that nearly half of today’s 20 year-olds will never marry, Trump being impeached is now more likely than marriage.

You’re also more likely to see Trump impeached than you are to roll a ten with two dice, or flip a coin and get two heads in a row. We’re also less likely to enjoy a white Christmas this year than see the president removed from office.

There is also a one in five chance that we live in a Matrix-style simulation, and a one in three shot that you’ll lose your job to a robot, so it’s probably worth taking these odds with a pinch of salt.

On top of this, it is also worth remembering that only two presidents have ever been impeached before – Andrew Johnson in 1868, and Bill Clinton in 1998, while Richard Nixon famously resigned before he could be impeached. How likely is it that Trump could be added to this small list of ousted presidents?

As well as the odds-makers, the president’s advisers believe impeachment to be a very real possibility. Trump has been warned and even briefed about how to overcome impeachment proceedings should they take place.

Much of this concern stems from the ongoing investigations into the presidential campaign’s ties to Russia, while Trump could also face impeachment for other reasons too. According to Article I, Section 4 of the Constitution, the president “shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors”.

This clause in the constitution means that Trump could be impeached for a variety of ‘misdemeanors’, including abuse of power, or obscuring justice.

The odds on Trump being impeached by the end of this year have also shortened alongside his falling approval ratings, which dropped to an all-time low on Monday. According to the Gallup poll, only 35% of adults currently approve of Trump’s presidency.

If the various controversies that have been associated with Trump’s presidency continue, then the incredible odds in favor of impeachment aren’t quite as crazy as you might think.
