Turkish Army, Militants Restart Hitting Kurdish Positions in Northern Syria

The Turkish Army troops and Ankara-backed militant groups launched a fresh round of mortar and missile attacks on the positions of Kurdish fighters in Northern Aleppo on Wednesday.

The Kurdish-language Hawar news reported that mortar and missile units of the terrorists affiliated to the Turkish army pounded the Kurdish strongholds in the villages of Samouqeh, al-Shahaba dam, Tal Maziq, Sheikh Issa, Al-Qamiyeh, Hasin and Ein Daqneh in Northern Aleppo.

Hawar news added that the Turkish spy planes flew over most of the villages in al-Shahba region.

The villages of Maranaz and Baflouneh and Shara region in Afrin region in Northern Aleppo also came under the massive missile and mortar attacks of the Turkey-backed militants.

Arab media reported on Tuesday that Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan renewed warnings about an impending attack on the Kurdish population in Syria days after Ankara reshuffled the top military brass of the country.

The Arabic-language al-Watan website quoted Erdogan as saying that his country would not bear the presence of separatist formations in Iraq and Syria and would adopt new and important measures against them soon.

His remarks came after Turkey’s army, air force and naval commanders were changed last week; a move seen by analysts as prelude to an offensive on the Kurds.

Meantime, a Turkish official said that his country would be more activated in fighting against terrorism by the recent changes, adding that political issues as well as Erdogan’s tendency to fight against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and the ISIL more seriously played a major role in changing the army commanders.

The Turkish army, navy and air force commanders have been replaced with new generals in a high-level meeting of the military and civilian leadership, Presidential Spokesperson İbrahim Kalın announced at a press conference Wednesday.

Incumbent Gendarmerie Commander. Gen. Yaşar Güler has been appointed as the new army commander, reports said, whereas Vice Adm. Adnan Özbal has been appointed the new navy commander and Gen. Hasan Küçükakyüz the new air force commander.

The Supreme Military Council (YAŞ) meeting at the Çankaya Prime Ministry Office with Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım chairing the event lasted over four hours.  

A large convoy from Syrian Arab Army and National Defence Forces arrived in West Aleppo… The reinforcements were split up, and sent to two different axes in West Aleppo:one group went to the area around the Scientific Research Facility, and the other to the Al-Zahra Association Quarter… The two axes have a large presence of Jihadist-Rebels, that carried out sporadic attacks against the Syrian Arab Army and their Allies in the Western Districts of the Aleppo city this year… Securing the Al-Zahra and Scientific Research axes is paramount for the Syrian Arab Army, if they want to secure the Western half of the city…

The ANHA media network has released a 4-minute video update from the front lines in Raqqa, showings fighters of the Kurdish People’s Protection (Y.P.G-J) moving around Isis positions within the city… The footage shows Kurdish forces avoiding killzones prepared by Isis throughout Raqqa city, moving through back Street, scaling balconies and negating building complexes through a network of holed-out walls… This video comes in as the Y.P.G-J shift the weight of its assault towards the Isis-held central Neighborhoods of Raqqa city… The particular footage shown originates out of the Nazlat Shehad District of Raqqa city, where Kurdish source say that heavy clashes between the Y.P.G-J and Jihadist-militants are ongoing…

 Syrian Soldiers Make Fresh Advances in War on Terrorists in Eastern Damascus

The Syrian Army troops continued their operations against the Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at or the Levant Liberation Board) in Eastern Ghouta on Wednesday and imposed control over more lands in the depth of Ein Terma region.

The army units engaged in fierce clashes with Al-Nusra in Ein Terma and managed to drive terrorists out of the Central part and several tall buildings in Ein Terma as well as several more buildings along the road connecting the regions of Zmelka and Jobar.

Also, the army men pushed terrorists back from several buildings in al-Manasher square and Jaha area in Jobar.

In the meantime, the army’s missile unis and aircraft pounded the Al-Nusra positions across the neighborhoods in Jobar and Ein Terma.

Relevant reports said on Tuesday that the army men, backed up by artillery and missile units, engaged in fierce clashes with Al-Nusra in several areas in Ein Terma and Jobar regions and managed to advance against the terrorists in furnaces district in Jobar and Suzuki neighborhood in Ein Terma.

The artillery and missile units pounded an important base of Al-Nusra in Ein Terma, killing a large number of terrorist in the base.

Meantime, a military source confirmed that the army soldiers prevailed over the Al-Nusra’s defense lines in Ein Terma and captured several buildings overlooking the Western and Central parts of Ein Terma.

The army men also imposed full control over several strategic buildings in Showan neighborhood in Ein Terma after hours of clashes.
