Syrian Army in Final Phase of Deir Ezzur Offensive

The Syrian Army has imposed control over 90 percent of Deir Ezzur city and come close to accomplishing its mission, field sources conformed on Wednesday.

The sources said that the army men, backed up by the country’s artillery units and Air Force, continued to advance against ISIL in Deir Ezzur, driving terrorists out of half of Huweija al-Kate’a neighborhood.

They added that the army men are in control of over 90 percent of Deir Ezzur city neighborhoods following their recent advances against ISIL.

Relevant reports said on Tuesday that a large number of ISIL terrorists, including Abdul Hamid al-Jarvan, their field commander in al-Mayadeen region, were killed in the army advances West of the town of al-Mayadeen.

In the meantime, the Syrian Air Force and the army’s artillery units pounded ISIL’s positions in the villages of Shaqra, al-Ji’eh, Zeiban, Mahkan, Mouhassa and Bu Amr, destroying ISIL’s Islamic police centers in Albu Kamal region and killing Abu Mohanad al-Halabi, one of the senior commanders of the ISIL and his Chechen aide.

Iraqi Forces Impose Full Control over Kirkuk

Kirkuk Operation Command announced in a statement on Wednesday that Baghdad’s military troops are now in control of entire Kirkuk after restoring security to the captured regions.

The statement said that the Iraqi forces seized control over the remaining regions, including the town of Debs and al-Moltaqi area in their operation in last 48 hours and took full control over the city.

The statement further said that the government forces have deployed to Khanqin and Jalawla cities in Diyala province and the towns of Makhmour, Ba’ashiqeh, Mosul dam, al-Oweinat region, the town of Sinjar and Rabi’eh region in Nineveh province.

Spokesman for Iraqi Oil Ministry Asem Jihad announced on Tuesday that the Iraqi military troops took control over the entire oilfields in Kirkuk.

Asem Jihad said that all the oilfields in Kirkuk came under the control of the Iraqi security forces, adding that management control over the oilfields was handed over to the oil ministry.

In relevant developments the global oil markets reacted to the escalation of the conflict with a surge in oil prices.
