CBS, PBS Suspend Veteran Journalist Charlie Rose Over Sexual Harassment Allegations

Charlie Rose has been suspended from CBS and PBS after the Washington Post reported Monday that at least eight women have now claimed the veteran newsman sexually harassed them. Rose is the host of “Charlie Rose” on PBS, the co-host of “CBS This Morning,” and a contributor to “60 Minutes” on CBS.

CBS did not immediately offer a comment Monday but Fox News reported the network has suspended him. PBS released a statement saying that it was “shocked” to learn of the allegations, which it called “disturbing.”

“We are immediately suspending distribution of ‘Charlie Rose,’” a statement from PBS read, according to Fox News.

The Washington Post reported Monday that at least eight women accused Rose of sexual misconduct, including making lewd phone calls, walking around naked in front of them, and groping their legs, breasts, and buttocks.

The report comes amid a shockwave of sexual harassment and sexual abuse allegations against multiple cultural and political power players, including Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, Bill O’Reilly, Louis C.K., Judge Roy Moore, and Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.)

Rose has admitted to some of the allegations but added that he does not believe all of them are accurate.
