Yemen’s Ansarullah fighters showcased on Tuesday the latest version of their home-made anti-ship missiles, threatening to target Saudi warships “very soon.” Ansarullah unveiled its latest “torpedo missile”, capable of hitting enemy targets at sea, claiming that the new weapon could be deployed “very soon” against Saudi warships blockading Yemeni ports. The torpedo, dubbed ‘Al-Manbab’, is reportedly capable of hitting enemy ships from far away, while each projectile featured a warhead, several stabilizers and a tail. The Yemeni Army confirmed on Sunday that it targeted Saudi Arabia’s Malik (King) Khalid international airport in Riyadh with a long distance Borkan H2 ballistic missile. “Our Yemeni forces succeeded in launching a missile, a Borkan H2 long distance missile, at the King Khalid international airport in Northeastern Riyadh which was in response to the massacres committed by the US-Saudi coalition in Yemen,” Colonel Aziz Rashed, a Spokesman for the Yemeni army, said early on Sunday. “This comes in order to even out power between the coalition and Yemen, who have been attempting to fight more than one country in the past three years,” he added.

Riyadh has also confirmed the launch, but saying that Saudi Arabia’s air defense intercepted the missile, bringing it down to the North of the airport. “I have underlined many times that the enemies’ capital cities are within the range of our ballistic missiles that will possibly be launched to retaliate continuation of massacre of the Yemeni people,” the spokesman for the Yemen’s Ansarullah movement said.

Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen since March 2015 to restore power to fugitive president Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh. The Saudi-led aggression has so far killed at least 15,000 Yemenis, including hundreds of women and children. Despite Riyadh’s claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi bombers are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures. According to several reports, the Saudi-led air campaign against Yemen has driven the impoverished country towards humanitarian disaster, as Saudi Arabia’s deadly campaign prevented the patients from travelling abroad for treatment and blocked the entry of medicine into the war-torn country. The cholera outbreak in Yemen which began in April, has also claimed over 2,100 lives and has infected 750,000, as the nation has been suffering from what the World Health Organization (WHO) describes as the “largest epidemic in the world” amid a non-stop bombing campaign led by Saudi Arabia. Also Riyadh’s deadly campaign prevented the patients from traveling abroad for treatment and blocked the entry of medicine into the war-torn country. According to reports, the cholera epidemic in Yemen, which is the subject of a Saudi Arabian war and total embargo, is the largest recorded in modern history.

The Saudi military forces invaded residents of al-Awamiyah in Qatif region of Eastern province again, attacking the houses of a number of Shiite Muslims. According to the Arabic-language Naba’a news channel, the Saudi security forces attacked the house of Abdollah Mohammed Abdollah al-Safwani, one of the prominent Shiites in Awamiyah, detaining his son. Eastern Province has been the scene of anti-regime protests since early 2011.

Riyadh has stepped up security measures in the Shiite-majority region. Protesters want freedom of speech, the release of political prisoners, and an end to economic and religious discrimination exercise by authorities. Demonstrations intensified in the province after the January 2016 execution by the regime of respected Shiite cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr. The protests have been met with a heavy-handed crackdown by the regime. Also in late May, a Saudi court handed down death sentences to over a dozen young Shiite activists from the restive Qatif region, which has been the scene of peaceful protest rallies against the ruling Saudi regime in recent years.

Saudi whistle-blower Mujtahid, who is believed to be a member of or have a well-connected source in the royal family, revealed that the country’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has personally bribed US President Donald Trump with a sum of $1bln during the latter’s visit to Riyadh in May.

Mujtahid wrote on his twitter page that Bin Salman, then-deputy crown prince, was able to win the US administration’s favor in his power struggle with his cousin Mohammed bin Nayef, who was heir to the throne until he was deposed in June.

He added that Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia changed Washington’s stance on the competition between bin Salman and bin Nayef, forcing the US to take the 32-year-old’s side.

Arab media reported late last month that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has ordered triple security checks and body search on visitors as he is deeply afraid of assassination attempts on his life by not just visitors, but even close relatives and aides.

“Bin Salman is living in horror. All those who want to meet him (even the closest ones) should go through three inspection rooms and all their belongings and whatever they carry are taken away from them, even a small pen in the second room,” al-Ahd al-Jadid wrote on its twitter page.

Anyone who wants to meet bin Salman is thoroughly checked from top to toe and this is done on everyone even close relatives and family members.

Other Arab media outlets also reported in August that bin Salman has escaped an assassination attempt at one of the royal family palaces in Jeddah.

Arabic language Mer’at al-Jazeera quoted sources close to the royal family as saying that bin Salman was targeted by an assassination attempt in Jeddah by one of the Saudi princes.

Also, a western diplomat in Riyadh said that the Saudi crown prince wasn’t harmed in the failed attempt and the prince who made the move was arrested.

Bin Salman’s ambitious acts in recent months and his attempts to dethrone the rivals have created wroth among other Saudi princes.

The Arab media have been reporting recently that Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud is much likely to step down in favor of his son Mohammed, the new crown prince, within the next few months.
