Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Repels ISIL’s Attack on Gov’t Positions in Deir Ezzur

Syrian army soldiers repelled terrorists’ attack on their positions in Deir Ezzur province after hours of clashes, inflicting major losses on them.

The ISIL terrorists’ attack to capture the government forces’ positions in Southwestern Deir Ezzur was fended off by the strong defense of the Syrian military men.

Meantime, the Syrian army and popular forces continued their military advances in other parts of Syria, including Damascus, over the past 24 hours.

Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured during the Syrian army’s operations in other provinces across Syria.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Army troops fended off a large-scale ISIL offensive in Southwestern Deir Ezzur on Saturday, inflicting major losses on the militants.

The army men engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL forces that had attacked the pro-government forces’ positions near T2 Oil Pumping Station near the border with Iraq and managed to fend off their attack.

Also, the army’s artillery and missile units pounded ISIL’s movements and strongholds in the region, killing and wounding a number of them.

In the meantime, the army men clashed with invading ISIL militants in al-Sukriyeh region near the newly-liberated town of Albu Kamal in Southeastern Deir Ezzur, and repelled their attack.

Meantime, the Russian bombers carried out a fresh round of attacks on ISIL’s strongholds and movements in the Eastern province of Deir Ezzur, inflicting major losses on the terrorists, the Russian Defense Ministry announced.

“On December 1, 2017, six Tu-22M3 long-haul bombers delivered an airstrike on ISIL terrorists’ targets in the province of Deir Ezzur,” the ministry said.

The ministry reported that the warplanes, which took off from an airfield in Russia, hit militants’ command posts and manpower.

“All designated targets were hit,” the ministry said, adding that unmanned aerial vehicles recorded the results of the bombing.

Su-30SM fighter jets based at the Humeimim airbase in Lattakia province in Western Syria provided backing for the bombers in Syria’s airspace.

Damascus

The Syrian Army troops kept rolling on the positions of the Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at or the Levant Liberation Board) in Southwestern Damascus, a field source said, adding that army men also fended off an Al-Nusra offensive in another battlefield on Saturday.

The sources said that the army men stormed the Al-Nusra positions East of Beit Jinn Farm in Southwestern Damascus and advanced towards al-Maqtul hill, imposing control over several positions.

In the meantime, the army’s artillery and missile units pounded the Al-Nusra movements and strongholds in al-Mughur al-Mir, the sources said.

The Al-Nusra attack on pro-government forces’ positions in Tal (hill) Bardaya was repelled by the army men.

The Al-Nusra suffered a heavy death toll and pulled forces back from the battlefield to evade more casualties.

Aleppo

A senior field commander of Al-Nusra Front was killed along with three of his aides after his vehicle came under fire by the Syrian Army in Western Aleppo, local sources confirmed on Saturday.

The sources said that the Syrian Army’s missile units targeted a vehicle of Al-Nusra terrorists in the town of Kafr Hamra in Western Aleppo, killing a notorious field commander of the terrorist group and three of his aides.

Dissident-affiliated websites reported that the Syrian Army troops stormed the positions of Al-Nusra Front in Southeastern Aleppo, killing a number of terrorists, including a notorious commander.

The websites said that Abu Ameneh, a notorious commander of Al-Nusra, was killed along with a number of his forces in clashes with the army men in Southeastern Aleppo.

Ceasefire fails to stop devastating airstrikes

Video footage from the Russian Φ.Α.Η ΤV revealed intense bombardment of rebels positions in Zakat and Lataminah in Hama’s Northern countryside… The Syrian Arab Air Forces and MLRS launchers had targeted those Towns in retaliation after militants launched Grad rocket attacks on the nearby Christian village of Salhab and Mohardeh injuring dozens of civilians… Notably this area is mostly held by the Free Syrian Army’s faction Jaysh al-Izza… Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham also maintains heavy presence in the strategic series of Towns that stretch across Hama’s Northern countryside…

The Syrian Arab Army’s and their Allies scored a big advance in the Southern countryside of Alepoo, after launching a powerful attack from the Southwest axis of the khanasser highway… Led by their Republican Guard and 3rd Legion(both successfully lead the fighting in Aleppo) the Syrian Arab Army managed to capture five Towns from the Al-Qaeda’s linked Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham formerly Jabhat Al-Nusra Terror-group in the Southern Aleppo… Among the localities captured by the Syrian Arab Army’s troops were the Towns of Abisan, Azizah, and Al-Ramleh… The video footage above released by the Russian Φ.Α.Η TV, shows the Syrian Arab Army’s advance in Southern Aleppo,in the vicinity of Khanasser,along with several corpses of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham fighters that were killed during the battle…

Russian Air Defense Units Deployed in Syria Intercept Israeli Missile

The Russian Air Defense that have deployed close to Damascus city tracked and targeted one of the missiles fired by Israeli forces at the Syrian capital’s countryside, an Arab media outlet reported on Sunday.

The Arabic-language al-Mayadeen news network quoted a well-informed Russian source as disclosing that the Pantsir-S1 combined short to medium range surface-to-air missile system that is supervised by the Russian military experts in Syrian intercepted one of the Israeli missiles in al-Kaswa regin in the Southern countryside of Damascus on Friday mid-night.

Al-Mayadeen further added that Israel hit Syria’s under-construction military installation and the Syrian Army’s ammunition deports by two Ariha-1 missiles.

Local sources confirmed on Saturday that the Syrian army’s air defense units fired at least four missiles at an Israeli fighter jet after the Tel Aviv forces’ missiles hit a region in Western Damascus, adding that the Damascus air defense could intercept some of the incoming missiles.

The sources said that the Syrian military’s anti-aircraft missiles were fired from the Mezzeh Airbase in rural Damascus in the early hours of Saturday.

The sources added that an Israeli fighter jet was flying at a low altitude over Lebanon’s Baalbek region near Syria’s border when the Syrian missiles were launched.

They added that a number of Israeli missiles were fired toward the 1st Division ammo depot in the Western countryside of Damascus, adding that the Syrian Air Defense managed to intercept some of the missiles before hitting their designated targets.

However, some of the missiles hit their intended target, causing loud explosions near the towns of Kesweh and Sahnaya, the sources further added.
