Checkmate Democrats: Leftist Corporation Starbucks to Give More to Employees, Cites GOP Tax Cuts as Reason

It’s bad enough that corporations like AT&T and Wells Fargo are handing out bonuses to their employees over the GOP tax cuts, but when leftist companies start announcing that they’re also benefiting from right wing actions and thus their employees will too, it just makes the Democrats look a party collectively caught with its pants down.

First it was Apple who said they were going to build a second campus somewhere in the U.S. and bring in 20,000 more jobs due to the tax cuts.

But now Starbucks, that company so laden with leftism that they sometimes fall over into activism, is now announcing benefits to its employees and specifically pointing to the GOP tax cuts as the primary reason for the beneficial season.

“Investing in our partners has long been our strategy,” Starbucks Chief Executive Officer Kevin Johnson said in a memo to employees, according to Fortune. “Due to the recent changes in U.S. tax law, we are able to accelerate some significant partner investments.”

And the benefits will be wide ranging according to the Seattle Times:

All employees will soon be able to earn paid sick time off, and the company’s parental leave benefits will include all non-birth parents. Starbucks Corp. said Wednesday that the changes affect about 150,000 full-time, part-time, hourly and salaried employees, most of whom work as baristas or shop managers. The new benefits apply to workers at more than 8,200 company-owned stores but not at the 5,700 licensed shops like those found inside supermarkets.

And that’s not all:

Starbucks said workers will get a pay raise in April, their second increase this year. The company declined to specify how much more workers will be paid or what it pays them now. The job and recruiting site Glassdoor says baristas make about $9.60 an hour, based on an average of salaries shared by Starbucks employees.

The company will give at least $500 worth of Starbucks stock in April to employees at stores, support centers or bean roasting plants. Store managers will get $2,000 in stock grants. Those amounts are on top of what those workers were already going to receive this year, the Seattle-based company said.

“Crumbs.” Am I right, Democrats? Huh? Democrats? Y’all said that.

Democrats were rather upset when the GOP passed the tax bill, and vowed to strike down the cuts the moment they had the power to do so. In fact, according to them, they’re already putting together a plan to do so, opening up the question as to why they want to take the benefits and extra money away from us.

As much as the left hates corporate success and loves taxes like a fat kid loves cake, this is the same party that likes to sell itself as the protector of the little guy. Hard to believe that, seeing as how the left is all about taking more money from us while they make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year, and benefit from their positions in some of the most grandiose ways possible.

As far as I’m concerned, I hope they do attempt to take our tax cuts from us. It’ll be the nail in the coffin for the Democrat’s reputation. After caving to the Republicans over the shutdown, their party is already in dire straights.

And with midterms coming up, well, I can’t wait to bring up Starbucks.
